Publisher's summary
[Contains explicit content] University student Anna Winslow, has gone missing. The circumstances of her disappearance are far from ordinary, a fact that only fellow student Melissa Lopez appears to appreciate. Motivated by an unexplained and disturbing voicemail message from Anna, on the night of her disappearance, Melissa's curiosity quickly turns into a deeper investigation, an obsession even, which she chronicles as a regular podcast — the very podcast you are about to listen to. She quickly discovers that Anna was a loner, with hearing difficulties and had disappeared for a week earlier in the year, only to return with perfect hearing, but with increasingly unstable behaviour.
As Melissa finishes the first episode of her podcast, a shocking twist in the investigation takes us deeper into the mystery.

The plane is jam-packed. Every seat is taken. So of course the flight is delayed! Flight attendant Allegra Patel likes her job—she’s generally happy with her life, even if she can’t figure out why she hooks up with a man she barely speaks to—but today is her twenty-eighth birthday. She can think of plenty of things she’d rather be doing than placating a bunch of grumpy passengers.

Story
Kidnappers grabbed Jenna in broad daylight, right in front of her children and their horrified classmates. Her family was issued an insane ransom demand: $25 million in cash and jewels, payable by the end of the school day, otherwise they’ll never see her again. As Jenna’s mother scrambles to gather the money, detectives Mo Butler and George Ortega follow the trail of the kidnappers, which will lead them through a sordid landscape of jealous lovers, broken dreamers, and twisted schemers. But every second counts, and there’s one thing Jenna Wade doesn’t have: very much time.

It grows on you
This audio drama really grows on you as you progress through the episodes. I understand the negative criticism but instead of focusing on every details that seem far-fetch, I chose to enjoy what each voice actor brought to this story. They are the ones that really bring this story to life.

Enjoyable story, well narrated!
Story was not predictable and held my interest. i would have appreciated all one story with chapters that could roll along, but hate to complain. I enjoyed this book very much. I typically read to lull myself into a dream (sleep) but found I had to keep listening to get to the finale.
Very enjoyable group of narrators. Certainly helped with following characters and a big part in holding my interest.
Will seek additional audio books from this author and narration group!

Engaging story, unsatisfying ending
It hooked me from the beginning. Each episode propelled me to the next to find out what happened. And the podcast “found recordings” format was the perfect device for telling the story. But...
Horror-mysteries like this build up so much tension & anticipation that they demand a big payoff at the end. And that is this story’s one glaring weakness. It just did not deliver enough of a reveal-twist to live up to everything that came before. Otherwise, it was very entertaining for all but the last few minutes.
Fans of THE BLACK TAPES podcast should feel right at home with Unheard.

Building backstory
This episode is pretty decent, its like every first episode of a series whereas its building a bit of the backstory. Some of the voiceovers are a little over the top but all in all, its pretty good.

Problems with Alexa reading episodes
I am only on Episode 3. It was a struggle to get through three parts. I give up. This is a very interesting audiobook, however, I am having big problems having Alexa understanding directions to the next episode. This was a free audiobook in 8 separate episodes. I saw no reviews with my problems, Disappointed.

Different, but good
I took a chance on this because the price was good and I needed something new to listen to while working on papers. I've waited to start reviewing these chapters (really wish it were all in one rather than separated like this) until I'd gotten a few into it so I could get an appropriate feel for the story. It's different. Not quite a "cold case files" type story, but not too far off. The first couple of chapters are a bit dry, but I highly recommend you hang in there as the story gets better as you go. Well done to the creators.

Best Story in a While
This story was a mystery at its best. The production of it was the best I’ve heard on Audible yet. Loved the way it was broke up into episodes that stopped at exactly the spot where you wanted to hear the next and the next had a short recap so you were reminded easily of where you stopped in case you couldn’t listen right away. And it was FREE! Definitely worth a listen.

It had promise, but failed
This had great promise to be an interesting story, but failed miserably. I even had problems getting 2 of the episodes to play. For all the references to movies like Sixth Sense and Wizard of Oz, this story wasn't even on the same playing field as those movies.
