First: A lot of discussing the pros and cons of folklore, religion and politics. The author seems to have a need to get his beliefs off of his chest.
Some politically incorrect speech and views, but not for the date in which the story takes place. Yet, sometimes words and phrases are from present time.
Second: Holmes has given up cocaine for hashish.
Third: Holmes talks about his sex life!
Last: The basic story is quite good and interesting. Just be prepared for a lot of the characters' (the author's) views peppered between the beginning and end.
The reader was very good. One star off for a "very" few mispronounced words.

To be honest, I began this book with a bit of trepidation, as I prefer my Holmes with his Watson. And Crowley as Holmes companion? Mmm... not easy to see that working.

And yet, it does. And I really liked it. The story is interesting, as the discussions about paganism, old gods and goddess and the source of fairy tales are. But I think that the main achievment here are the strong characters. All of them are vivid, enticing, interesting.

We see a Holmes a bit more open, one that seems to feel that he is able to discuss about philosophy and express his personal views with more freedom, and that's an intersting thing, too

A wonderful surprise :D

Oh, and Steve White's narration is simply wonderful.

Really good

A researcher on an island North of Scotland goes missing, and his daughter hires Sherlock Homes to get answers. Doctor Watson is unable to help Sherlock. On the island no one will cooperate with Homes, because the researcher was asking about witchcraft. Lucky for Homes he finds a young man willing to help named: Aleister Crowley.

I was hoping this would be a bit of pastiche similar to Sherlock Holmes vs. Dracula or the Courdurie graphic novels. Instead I found it to be more about how Scotland witches might have lived centuries ago with a little bit of Holmes tucked in when the author remembered who his lead was.

Too much Hashish and not enough actual deduction until the last act for me. Would have made a fine period piece without using Holmes.

Not my cup of earl grey

About half way to the grocery it was clear that this was a poor choice. Stiff dialog delivered woodenly (think high school drama) and it sounds like it was recorded in a bathroom. NOT recommended
