My Mother Cursed My Name is such an incredible story. The three generations of women in this family are so detailed and unique, yet weave together like traits do when handed down from mother to daughter. The dynamics between the three women deliver a punch of emotions, making the reader feel many things at once.

In addition to well crafted characters, this story provides cultural perspectives that are rich with detail. I loved learning the differences between the Spanish and English languages, and how there are words in Spanish that cannot be easily translated.

This story is a must read! It will surprise you, entrance you, and keep you invested past the last page.

The audiobook is incredibly well done and adds a layer of richness to this novel. I highly recommend the audiobook version!

Truly beautiful, layered characters. I struggled with finishing this. The story started strong and the felt stagnant for quite some time.

I love the connection of all three female characters, Grandma, Mother and Daughter. It's a beautiful story of understanding and accepting each other as we are. It definitely touched my heart.

Intergenerational Healing

The story had me immediately. Great characters and loved the POV changes. I also loved the Mexican American Texas culture and history. I would say it would make a great movie but the story cannot be contained in 2 hours. A Netflix series!
