Two multiple New York Times best-selling authors team up to expand Larry Correia's Monster Hunter universe!

When marine private Oliver Chadwick Gardenier is killed in the marine barrack bombing in Beirut, somebody who might be Saint Peter gives him a choice: Go to heaven, which, while nice, might be a little boring, or return to earth. The Boss has a mission for him, and he's to look for a sign. He's a marine: He'll choose the mission.

Unfortunately, the sign he's to look for is "57". Which, given the food services contract in Bethesda Hospital, creates some difficulty. Eventually it appears that God's will is for Chad to join a group called Monster Hunters International and protect people from things that go bump in the night. From there, things trend downhill.

Monster Hunter Memoirs is the (mostly) true story of the life and times of one of MHI's most effective - and flamboyant - hunters. Protips for up-and-coming hunters range from how to dress appropriately for jogging (low-profile body armor and multiple weapons) to how to develop contacts among the Japanese yakuza to why it's not a good idea to make billy goat jokes to trolls.

Grunge harkens back to the Golden Days of Monster Hunting, when Reagan was in office, Ray and Susan Shackleford were top hunters, and Seattle sushi was authentic.

Once again I am enthralled by MHI and the story it tells. Could hardly wait for it to be released and it didn't disappoint. Oliver Wyman brings the characters to life. Pure entertainment!

A Big Fat YEAH!!!

I do wish it had been the primary story line but it was still very enjoyable.

It's monster hunter. Is there ever enough?

Any additional comments?

Nicely written. Ringo clearly "gets" the Monster Hunters International universe. It is smart and as someone who lived through the 70's and 80's I appreciated the nods to my past.

A solid addition to the Monster Hunter Series

Correia and Wyman do it again, with some additional help from Ringo! This is the same level of entertainment as any of his previous books. If you are a fan of his, you will enjoy this just as much as the rest, do yourself a favor and give it a listen.

Good Old MHI

Larry, and John knock it out of the park, great voice acting ,and great story. If you have never read any MHi book your safe to hop in. Warning though be prepared to buy every Monster hunter international book.

Great

I am not a horror fan. Having said that, I love Monster Hunter Memoirs: Grunge. Most horror stories show the fragile human men and women screaming in terror, so much lambs for the slaughter of the powerful and evil monsters; vampires, werewolves, etc. It is a delightful change to see humans fight back and kick monster butt. This is the first of the series that I have listened to, and have since purchased the rest of the series and read all but the last two. Every thing I have read so far is great. Oliver Wyman is a really effective narrator, and his narration of the first person story line is great.

while this one is a totally different format than the previous MHI books, I think it is just as good as the others. It maintains the same Irreverent sense of humor and Rediculously awesome action/Comedy/Gun-Porn Combo. I highly recommend this book to both veterans of the MHI Series aswell as anyone who is new to the series, this book will be great to introduce you to the world and the style of "Monster Hunter International"

Another Amazing MHI Story

This was definitely a MHI book but I expect a lot from MHI books and this one kinda fell a bit flat for me, and with no disrespect to John Ringo, Larry Correia is a tough act to follow. Not to mention writing in someone else's universe must be tough especially trying to please hardcore fans. Some of the reason I think it was off could be simply that it is based in the past and there are only so many surprises and plot twists that you can unvale without conflicting with the original story. Overall I was kept amused and I do look forward to listening to more from John Ringo.

Good... but...

I have zero complaints. It's always nice hoping you're part of that world and can kill all of the evil. It's also nice to hope this world doesn't exist, that's some scary stuff out there.

As go as the rest
