Publisher's summary

War has cast its cold shadow over the kingdom of Moltovia, but finally, peace appears to be at hand. Prince Florin races to join his father at the joyous banquet in the court of their former enemy, but is greeted by betrayal. Spared the dungeon that is the fate of his father and his loyal followers, he is enslaved as a lowly apprentice to the spiteful and wily court jester, Mimus.

Banished to a damp tower and forced to play the fool alongside Mimus, Florin despairs. How can he, a mere boy, save his father, his kingdom, and his own life?

Bristling with wit, Mimus is a gripping and suspenseful saga of medieval deception and cunning.

Not only for children

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

As a keen listener and a reader of fantasy books, I've learned that many of these genre books do not live up to expectations. Many ideas in fantasy books tend to repeat themselves. Others simply lack the capability of describing a fantastic reality and ideas.
To my utter surprise, Mimus does not fall into these pitfalls.
The story is well written. The characters are convincing, the narrative is delicious.
You certainly don't have to be a child to enjoy this book.
I enjoyed every minute of it.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Mimus?

Mimus tends to keep you on edge. You can relate with each and every passing moment the main character- the young prince is experiencing.
The downfall of a young pampered prince into a court gesture is not an easy one, and Lilli Thall magnificently illustrates the torments of this fall.
I would certainly recommend this book to anyone I know of.

What makes a friend

One of my all time favourite family audiobooks. A story that pulls you in and along and masterfully narrated. I listened first years ago with my kids. listened again recently and it definitely holds up. Beautiful story of friendships and hardships.

Page turner

I figured this would be either a waste of credits or excellent & was pleasantly surprised to find it the later. I found myself listening to it while driving, doing chores, in the tub & @ bed time. I highly recommend this book with the unique characters of our hero's Mimus.

The narrator & his numerous voices made it easy and fun to follow.

Ages 10 & up.

A treasured favourite

This book has been one of the few that I re-read over and over again. Every character has a unique and enjoyable voice (both literary and literally). The story is as topsy turvy and unpredictable as it's namesake.
Enjoyable for youth and adults alike.

What a book!

This book is tied for the best fiction that I have ever read! It is great for teen's or adults alike! It has one minor bad word towards the end and it is the "D" word! The story is great and the reader is great and it has great charecter as well! What a book. Could make a great movie if done right! To Me it is a classic.

Neatly Packaged Young Reader

Honestly I really didn't care for this book. It's a good story and stars off strong, but things begin to move way too rapidly towards the end of the book and the ending is very..."neat".

Based on the Amazon.com description I was given a bit too much of the plot and kept waiting for a certain event to happen, and when it does I was pretty disappointed. There are complex characters and many are simply ignored at the end and the events unfolding are wrapped up in a nice and orderly fashion, therefore feeling fake.

Couple that will juvenile narration, I cannot recommend this book. The narrator does voices and the producer felt the need not to worry about audio normalizing, so many times Mimus is yelling at you then you have to turn the volume up to hear other characters. Frustrating read.
