"Everyone gets mad at hustlers, especially if you're on the victim side of the hustle. And Miles knew hustling was in his veins."

Miles Morales is just your average teenager. Dinner every Sunday with his parents, chilling out playing old-school video games with his best friend, Ganke, crushing on brainy, beautiful poet Alicia. He's even got a scholarship spot at the prestigious Brooklyn Visions Academy. Oh yeah, and he's Spider-Man.

But lately Miles' Spidey sense has been on the fritz. When a misunderstanding leads to his suspension from school, Miles begins to question his abilities. After all, his dad and uncle were Brooklyn jack-boys with criminal records. Maybe kids like Miles aren't meant to be superheroes. Maybe Miles should take his dad's advice and focus on saving himself.

As Miles tries to get his school life back on track, he can't shake the vivid nightmares that continue to haunt him. Nor can he avoid the relentless buzz of his Spidey sense every day in history class, amid his teacher's lectures on the historical benefits of slavery and the importance of the modern-day prison system. But after his scholarship is threatened, Miles uncovers a chilling plot, one that puts his friends, his neighborhood, and himself at risk.

It's time for Miles to suit up.

I absolutely loved this book. Honestly, I thought it was going to be “another” super hero saves the world book. Not that there’s anything wrong with that because I’m a huge fan of this genre. However, the premise behind this book goes so much deeper. The message resonates deeply in our society around the perceptions we have regarding different backgrounds and the external and internal fight one undergoes dealing with these perceptions. Anyway, great book a definite read especially for those individuals from ethnic backgrounds that want to see themselves in literature.

This is a really good story. Reynolds does a great job weaving Spider-Man’s life with the lives of others in a city with real issues. The narrator, Lockhart, does a really poor Spanish accent that makes the parts with Miles’ mother hard to listen too. All the guys sound pretty much the same but you can tell the narrator thought he was changing his voice up. Overall, it’s worth the listen and read

Great story; narrator needs to work on his accents

I always thought the "School to Prison Pipeline" was a metaphor. But apparently they took it very literal.

A haunting line that resonates through the book, resulting in expertly crafted and truly intimate tension. Reynolds managed to capture Miles's psyche and struggles, bringing social issues into the personal world of a super hero. Very relevant in today's America, the book presents antagonists that reflect a real and looming threat in contemporary society.

It had a good plot and It also had a deep story. I like the charecters because they felt real. Overall really good book.

Miles Morales was every bit of Spider-Man the kid! The theme very historical and modern reminiscent of brown and black males trying to be humans but falling victim to the invisible wall of doom (can’t be human no way no how just stay in your place the place beneath the other). Definitely recommend reading or listening to book. Loved it!

Mudp1e! Thrilled throughout!

Why didn’t they just do mysterio

Look I love this book it is fantast from plot twist to plot twist but the last plot twist just makes me cry spoiler warning ⚠️ The villain is just a very old man what kind of villain is that i see what he was going for but It could’ve been much better it could’ve been fixed very easily after the villain is dead it could’ve been mysterio but overall I hope this turns into a movie or a tv show or even a book series but I loved it and recommend it.

Great book but the ending makes me cry 😥 in a bad way

This is an amazing remake on the Spider-Man story. Lovely visuals with descriptive language, I can’t wait till my nieces and nephews are old enough to read Jason Reynolds books.
