Publisher's summary

The sea didn’t have her long enough to ravage her broken body. Her beauty is still intact, her pale lips slightly parted in the memory of her last breath, her dark hair clinging to her face in long, wavy strands. Every inch of her skin bears testimony of her terrifying fate at the hands of the man who never expected her to be found.

After the body of a brutally murdered young woman is recovered from the Gulf of Mexico far from shore, FBI Special Agent Tess Winnett is called in to assist with the profiling of the murderer. Although only one body has been found, every detail about the gruesome crime points to the work of a serial killer.

Have there been others left to die far at sea, where no one will ever find them? Is there a connection to be found, or is Tess searching for evidence that doesn’t exist?

Partnering with Detective Michowsky, Tess is frantically looking for answers in the case that left no evidence other than a body that was never supposed to be found. How many others perished like her? And how many others will?

The best-selling author of Dawn Girl is back with another suspenseful, gripping crime thriller. If you’re a fan of David Baldacci, Melinda Leigh, and James Patterson, you will enjoy Leslie Wolfe’s enthralling police procedural that will keep you listening till the end.

***** Gripping *****

I have read or listened to most of Tess Winnett's cases, I love this detective, she's just so real! This case starts when the body of a woman is found floating in the gulf, on examination of the body it is determined that it fell from a great height into the water. When Tess investigates, as only she can, she discovers that this isn't the only body. There's a serial killer to be found.

This is one of those books you don't want to put down, it's gripping and compelling as well fast-paced and as with all of Tess's investigations it has a thrilling conclusion.

The narration of this book by Gwendolyn Druyor is so well done, she is Tess, but that doesn't mean that she doesn't do an excellent job with all the other characters too!

I was given this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review

Good Read

Mile High Death (Special Agent Tess Winnett #6) was a great read by Leslie Wolfe. The body of a brutally murdered woman is recovered from the Gulf of Mexico. FBI Special Agent Tess Winnett is asked to assist with profiling the murderer. Tess is looking into the fact that this could be the work of a serial killer. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

Loved this book and the character Tess. The only problem I had was that it ended so quickly.

Action packed Tess Wynette thriller!

Leslie Wolfe has crafted another Tess Wynette novelette that has as much or more impact as a number of full-length novels I have read. This action-packed rollercoaster ride follows Tess hunting a serial killer in a series of events that held me spellbound until the final sentence was read. Gwendolyn Druyor’s narration was as excellent as always and truly brought Tess and the other characters to life.

Excellent

MILE HIGH DEATH...Leslie Wolfe She had always been brave, determined, unyielding. A presentation for a client, then he wooed her before she went back to Miami. He was married, she could barely think around him, then the nightmare began. A body floating in the Gulf of Mexico, the bones all broken. Tess was a FBI agent, along with Michowski to figure out what happened. He asks her to profile the killer, a man with unresolved anger, asserting power over his victim, which he doesn’t have in his everyday life. The force of some type of vehicle caused this. With the author’s books she gives us plots, that are unusual and how devastating the victim died. The characters of the two agent was good, they worked well together, giving feedback on their thoughts Another winner for the author. The narration by Gwendolyn was clear and added to the story. Given audio for my voluntary review and my honest opinion

Gripping - I couldn't stop listening

If I want to listen to a good thriller which doesn't over-reach then my go-to author is Leslie Wolfe, I know I'm not going to be disappointed. This one was no exception so if you haven't had the pleasure of getting to know FBI Special Agent Tess Winnet from earlier books then this one will certainly make you want to know more.

When Tess received a call to join Detective Michowsky on the shore of the Gulf of Mexico where the body of a young woman was being brought from the sea she had no idea what to expect. She's a profiler and Michowsky, having worked with her before wants her help with this one. The woman has multiple broken bones and appears to have been strangled not drowned. This may be the only body to be found so far but every detail about the gruesome crime points to the work of a serial killer.

Have there been others and can they find a connection or is Tess searching for evidence that doesn’t exist? Tess and Michowsky are meticulous in their investigation, leaving no stone unturned until they find their man, but will they be able to stop him before he kills again?

One of the things I love about Lesley Wolfe's books is she gives you insight not only into Tess's thought processes but also into the mind of the killer! This was a gripping, unputdownable book, one I have no hesitation in recommending to any fans of this genre.

The narration by Gwendolyn Druyor is excellent and perfectly executed as always. The team of Wolfe and Druyor certainly know how to deliver an excellent tale.

Tess Wynette to the rescue!

Ms. Wolfe writes books that you would swear have come from the headlines or from a courtroom! The suspense is intense! Even if you know who the killer is, you have to figure out how Tess can catch them. The stories are not only exciting but can be quite gruesome as you are immersed into the minds of criminals. I am enjoying listening to them, some are quite long but others are only a couple of hours so you can choose what to read or listen to according to the time you have.

A mile high murder

The master of suspense is back with another great read. I really love Leslie Wolfe's books especially the Tess Winnett series, she is such a strong character that doesn't take an prisoners. I read the book and knew as soon as it was out as an audio book then I had to add it to my collection. So glad I did because even though I knew what was going to happen I think I enjoyed it even more than the book version. The story is told by two perspectives, Tess as she hunts down the killer by putting the clues together and the killer as he explains why he became what he is. This worked well in my opinion as it explained the plot and clues as the story unfolded. I just wish it had been longer. Can't wait for the next book by this very talented author.
When the body of a woman is found floating in the sea, FBI agent Tess Winnett is called in because there is no way this is the killers first victim- the perfect body dump as sea water washing the body clean of clues and the animals finish it off . With very little evidence to go on and only the idea that there must be other bodies Tess must retrace her footsteps and hope that leads to finding out who the other victims are. First she will have to work out how she died. Will questioning her work colleagues lead them to a clue or someone to question next? With the dead woman boss acting shifty and the hotel she stayed at while on a business trip bing less than helpful Tess feels time is running out for another girl.
Gwendolyn Druyor is my favourite narrator. She uses her voice to express so much emotion and joy that it is a real pleasure to listen to. I am so glad that this winning team have paired up and I hope they continue working together on future books.
