Fantastic Series
If you could sum up Midnight Dynasty in three words, what would they be?
Only three...don't know if that is enough. It definitely takes more than three words to describe what's inside these pages. It's an original, creative, complex, well written and addicting series with a great storyline and a great cast of characters. It's not a series you can just jump right into.It does get confusing at times. I would suggest going to the authors website, she lists 2 different ways you can read the series depending on what you prefer. Either- intended progression of the storyline or chronological progression.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Midnight Dynasty?
There is no way to pick just one. There is so much that goes on in each book. From the moment each book starts you are pulled into this crazy, twisted, awesome world and never know what is going to happen next. Without giving away any spoilers though the whole situation with Oz, Jacob and Amelia.
Have you listened to any of LC Kane’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
As usual her narration is fantastic. She is the voice of this series. She has a voice that is easy to listen to for long periods of time.Clearly spoken with a nice even pace. Great character voices. Her tone and delivery of each character is perfect. She brings the characters, their emotions and the story to life through her narration. Very enjoyable
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes....Once I started the book I didn't want to stop. I was irritated whenever I had to pause it for any reason. I actually did listen to it in one day. When I first started this series I was a little confused and it took a while to get used to who everyone was, and where they fit into the story. Now I can't get enough of this series.

A Family curse
I got this book via audiobook boom. This is a story of tragedies that happens in life but the curse is so ingrained in the family history that the three sisters believe in its validity. Even though two of the three sisters are extremely smart they still allow the curse to hold sway over them. The narration was superb. even when I wanted to say hey people wake up we all live our lives with the threat of death hanging over our heads. No one knows when they will die. Even those who attempt suicide don't know if they will die or not. But the story overall was well written and well performed.

Disappointing
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Think of the Deschanel curse as an invisible movie monster. It's lurking out there, sharpening its claws, and you know it's getting ready to start its killing spree. Who is going to survive? DUH DA DUH DA... If you enjoy those movies, you'll love this book.
What didn’t you like about LC Kane’s performance?
There were some scenes where two women were arguing. One was obviously distraught, but Ms. Kane's reading struck me as downright histrionic. I also think her New Orleans accents were not quite on the money. In her defense, there is a huge cast of characters in this book. I can't imagine trying to come up with that many different voices!
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
It's an excellent case study of what happens to people who are continually under threat from an unknown danger for long periods of time. The family members have developed a wide, fascinating variety of coping mechanisms. A psychologist would have a field day analyzing them. Unfortunately, when the "Deschanel curse" strikes, no one seems immune.
Any additional comments?
I received a free copy of this audio book in exchange for an honest opinion.

We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.
