Publisher's summary

Political plots, kingly coups, and unexpected affairs keep bardic mage Alana on her toes in the fifth installment of this character-driven fantasy series.

Since waking up from a terrible accident on Earth to find herself in the Kingdom of Bergond almost twenty years ago, Alana has faced more than her fair share of challenges. Most recently, she's been commissioned by Emperor Durin to set up a magical portal that will connect the capital city of Ermath to the far northern reaches of his domain in Linden. Only, the journey to Linden is plagued from the outset. It seems someone knows about the mission and will do whatever it takes to prevent its completion.

As if that weren't enough, Alana's Earthly past seems determined to catch up with her—with potentially catastrophic consequences. Now, she'll have to untangle a tricky conundrum of time and space to get the gates operational, all the while contending with shadowy threats to her safety as well as dangerous rumors that could expose her otherworldly origins.

Filled with metaphysical puzzles, dangerous escapes, irresistible relationship drama, and fascinating courtly intrigue, Melody of Mana 5 is a thrilling conclusion to this tightly plotted isekai series.

The fifth volume of the hit progression-fantasy series—with almost four million views on Royal Road—now available on Audible and wherever ebooks are sold!

I want more!

Okay, if you're reading a review of book 5, it means you've finished the other four books and love the series as much as I do. But why, oh why, do the books keep getting shorter with each installment? What's next, a 4-hour story? Please, I want more of this series, not less! The first two books are among my all-time favorite reincarnation stories. Book 5 is good; I just wish there was more of it, not progressively less.

still going strong

another solid entry in the series, with a narrator who is steadily becoming one of my favorites.

The first time since book 3 the main character felt like herself.

It's been a rough ride since her character assassination and the events that followed it, but this book was rather refreshing in how, while not rectifying the mistakes of the past, is at least not hindered by them. The book manages to be far more interesting than the previous two, and not held back by the author's mishandling of her character in those same two books.

Great! shorter than the last

Just as good and high quality as the last book. The content feels short by comparison sadly.

Very good

Very good story but too short, and I mean too short in the way that makes you think they wanted to sell more books with the same amount of content.

OK-ish

This is one of those series that I always look forward to new releases, and overall I enjoyed this one quite a bit. With that said, I almost quit it halfway through when something happened to the main character that has already happened three or four times before, and frankly the plot device is getting beyond old. I was also disappointed when it seemed like she decided to do experimentation too close to civilization mainly just for the sake of plot advancement and not really in character with the normal logic of her or her superiors. However , the author presents enough credible reasons for this that it is something you can swallow at least. With those gripes aside, the book was as good as all the previous and I would recommend it to any fan of the series.
