Lifelong songwriter learning anew

Absolutely love this book! After writing songs for 30 years, most recently as the principal writer for Hello Fiasco; I was able to learn why I am doing some things well, and why I am still doing other things incorrectly. Great exercises for songwriters

I am enjoying applying the ideas in the book to my own songs. I also loved the included playlist with each song cued up to illustrate the point the author was making. Brilliant.

Practical advice from a successful pro

Concise, helpful, and relevant. Definitely skewed towards pop writing, but applicable to anyone. Probably worth more than one listen unless you take notes and apply everything immediately.

A tremendous resource!

Mastering Melody Writing in Audio format turned out to be a blessing. I had to multi-task while listening, and it took a week to finish it, but the chapters unfolded and aligned with my works in progress, which excited and encouraged me! The content is straightforward and easy to understand with ample examples. The narration is clear and concise. I couldn't take notes while listening, so I will probably purchase the hard copy. The subjects covered created a songwriting "toolbox" that I now carry with me daily. I'm focused, I'm listening to music with intent, and I'm ecstatic about becoming a better songwriter! Lisa Lyric

A useful resource

This is a thorough and in-depth look at the melodic side of songwriting. The online resources are the icing on the cake (though some of the links are broken at the time of this review). It introduces the listener/reader to concepts that will stick with them as they create. One of my must-read-agains, and strongly recommended to any songwriter or aspiring songwriter.
