Publisher's Summary
Another timeless story about Mary Poppins, the world's most exciting nanny, and her magical adventures with the Banks family.
From the moment Mary Poppins arrives at Number Seventeen Cherry-Tree Lane, everyday life at the Banks house is forever changed. Jane, Michael, and the twins have never had such a wonderful nanny, who brings enchantment and excitement everywhere she goes.
In Mary Poppins Opens the Door, Mary Poppins reappears just in time! According to her tape measure, Jane and Michael have grown "Worse and Worse" since she went away. But the children won't have time to be naughty with all that Mary has planned for them. A visit to Mr. Twigley's music box – filled attic, an encounter with the Marble Boy, and a ride on Miss Calico's enchanted candy canes are all part of an average day out with everyone's favorite nanny.

Best Mary Poppins Yet
Although she still comes across as vain, the character has really come much closer to what I have come to think of her as . . . strong, but not domineering; knowing, but not arrogant; good, but not stuck up (by the way, I think these traits are just as admirable for men as women). This book just struck some good chords with me!

No syrupy nanny here
(As posted in Goodreads)
I do so like Mary Poppins character in the PL Travers books! Although she is not so obviously sappy and syrupy as characterized in the movie, she is a lot more fun to play with and build on mentally!
This is the third of the series, and I still love it – YEARS later!
I suppose I actually like the first two better, but this one's no slouch i

Nice Fantasy
Liked the book. Readers have to remember the time period it was written in or you would wonder why someone who rarely smiled or said a kind words was hired as a.nanny. If you see what happens after the children question her she answers them in the fantasy.

It was okay,
But Mary could have been a little nicer to the children; not savage
Why did she enslave neilius?! He was so nice!
I liked that the narrator sounded like Mary poppins.
So mad that the narrator is throughout the rest of the series!!
