Publisher's summary
Inside the making of one of the biggest-selling albums of all time: Fleetwood Mac's Rumours.
Fleetwood Mac's classic 1977 Rumours album topped the Billboard 200 for 31 weeks and won the Album of the Year Grammy. More recently, Rolling Stone named it the 25th greatest album of all time and the hit TV series Glee devoted an entire episode to songs from Rumours, introducing it to a new generation. Now, for the first time, Ken Caillat, the album's co-producer, tells the full story of what really went into making Rumours - from the endless partying and relationship dramas to the creative struggles to write and record "You Make Loving Fun," "Don't Stop," "Go Your Own Way," "The Chain," and other timeless tracks.
- Tells the fascinating, behind-the-music story of the making of Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, written by the producer who saw it all happen
- Filled with new and surprising details, such as Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham's screaming match while recording "You Make Loving Fun"; how the band coped with the pressures of increasing success; how the master tape nearly disintegrated, and the incredible attention paid to even the tiniest elements of songs, from Lindsey playing a chair to Mick breaking glass

Good insight but too much rock star worship
Good to hear about a production from the engineers pov but a little too fawning about the band. Some of those egos deserved a stomping.

What fun
This perspective on the producers and sound engineers role and producing this record is extremely eye-opening for me. I am very grateful for this audiobook.

Takes you into the studio...
I had read some negative reviews of this book, but I love Fleetwood Mac and the Rumours albums so I had to give it a listen. I was transported to the late 1970's and the free wheeling vibe of northern California and the Brit Blues and California mixture that made that one of a kind sound of Fleetwood Mac. The viewpoint of the author, Ken Caillat is that of an outsider who is inside for a period of time. He gets to witness, as well as take part, in the making of this masterpiece of rock music and then tell us how they did it. The conversations, the relationships, the drugs and alcohol, the clashes, the ethos that came together in the songs that we all love. I will likely listen to this book again, but in the meantime, I will be listening to my favorite band make that sweet mellow rock that has carried me through the last forty years.

Extraordinary story told just as well
Fascinating details about an incredible chain of events told by one who lived it. Educational and exciting. Lots of details, good advice, insights into the process of making a record, and the people who were creating the music.
I struggled to put it down for work or sleep.
I hope he writes more.

very interesting
written and told by someone who was there this book gave so many interesting facts and a look inside the making of this greatest album. I recommend this book to anyone who's interested in hearing a boat behind the scenes from someone who's not biased.

As an audio engineer and music producer
This book is an incredible depiction of the making of the Rumour’s album. If you’re a music student, or an audio engineer, or just someone who enjoys learning about music, and the behind the scene environment of the music industry in Southern California during the 1970’s then you’ll enjoy this book.

Simply great!!!
I'd highly recommend this for....1-anyone in music production or songwriting it's a very enlightening story about one of the greatest albums ever made. 2- any Fleetwood Mac fanatics. I wish Ken had been a little more specific on the model number of the mics, outboard gear and stuff (I know that would have been useless info for most folks, but not me!), but it is a great story.....Plenty of sex, drugs....and some rock and roll!

From a fan
If Fleetwood Mac and Rumours were the soundtrack of your college life, you can’t miss listening to this book. I spent a lot of time toggling between a particular song and the book. I see this album through a totally different lens now. Highly recommend
