The dragons have fled the skies.

A noble house is clinging to life.

The god of gods is rising.

As the Envoy of the Four Kingdoms, Wes has had his purpose decided since birth: sacrifice the treasures of the people to the dragon gods, and they will keep Kaveryth safe.

For five years, he’s been forced to watch his kingdom fall into ruin while carrying an unbearable grief of his own. The Elders insist that they must continue to be faithful to the Dracodei, but Wes is beginning to doubt that their protectors are holding up their end of the bargain.

Despite his misgivings, he continues to fulfill his duty—until he meets a misunderstood dragon who offers him a choice for the first time in his life.

Will he have the courage to make the sacrifice that truly matters?

Action-packed and crystal clean

I think the narrator did a pretty good job. Something about his voice bothered me at first but I got over it. The fantasy is well-written. My only complaints are how obliquely Christian it was (although not peachy) and how perfect the main character was. I didn’t see much growth in him. A change in faith, yes, but not overcoming a personality flaw. Maybe there was one, but it wasn’t obvious.
That said, it was a GREAT story. If you like swords and dragons, you’ll love this book!

Good Beginning To A YA Epic Fantasy Series

A fascinating world of humans, dwarves, elves, and dragons. This book focused on humans with a bit of dragons, but future books promise more of the dragons and probably the other races as well. I’m very interested to find out more about the dragons and whether or not they have souls and see how the answer affects their service to/relationship with the High One! I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was great!

Wonderful story

I’ve previously read Magnify, and loved the balance of fantasy with a Christian theme. The story of redemption and sacrifice is moving. You will find much to love here.

Great Christian Fantasy

Stefanie Lozinski has created something truly unique. it was fun getting to know the world of Storm and Spire. I enjoyed taking in the political intrigue in this novel and staying on my toes, unable to guess what would happen next. I look forward to the next installment.
Narration was excellent.

Enjoyable for adults

Enjoyable story and well written. This style of writing seems to be slightly drawn out. Descriptions are thorough.

Not for kids. There are a few references that I would not want a too young teen reading. Although they were not very explicit.

Looking forward to reading the next book.

SO good!

This is an excellent fantasy tale; it ends on a cliffhanger, and I can't wait to begin book two! The premise of how a few people discover that their entire religion might be a lie is so interesting, especially when incorporating the fantasy elements of dragons, elves, and dwarves. All of whom are in a power struggle to rule the kingdoms. I have a feeling that life for all the people is going to be turned upside down and inside out, as more people 6 accept the truth about The High One.

This is a book that caught my attention very early in and kept me excited all the way through. I've been talking non-stop about this book to my husband and teen sons, who I know will also enjoy this story.

I enjoyed this audio so much and hope the remaining books in the series will also be narrated by Kyle Adams. He does a fantastic job at bringing the story to life. His narration of the individual characters is good. One is able to tell which character is speaking during conversational dialog. His ability to narrate female voices is also on point.

Great Christian Fantasy

I enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read the remainder of the series! Clean fantasy with great characters, intriguing plot, and dragons! Some places where the story dragged but enough to keep my interest! I didn’t love the narrator, but it wasn’t terrible after I sped it up some. Honest review after free audiobook. I’ve purchased the second book myself.

Fun Christian fantasy book

Overall, I really enjoyed this book! First of all, it's Christian fantasy - definitely one of my favorite genres! It has dragons, dwarves, elves, ancient mysteries, and a plot to overthrow the kingdom. Or is it a plot to overthrow the world? Or has the world already been overthrown and no one noticed and now they have to put everything back to right??? Maybe it's all three. And the dragon is a bookworm - but the poor thing can barely fit in a library and she can't turn a page without risking tearing the pages with her claws! I liked her. :)
While I really did enjoy the book, for some reason it didn't quite grab me the way I expected it to. Maybe there was Catholic influence in the plot and I'm just not all that familiar with Catholic theology? Is Wes supposed to be like a priest who allows people to be reconciled with God? Is that why he's so important to the High One's plan? Anyway, something felt a bit odd, but I did still enjoy the story.
Also, the narrator was FANTASTIC. I honestly don't think a better narrator could have been found for this book!

I did receive a free promotional copy of this audiobook and chose to review it. All opinions are my own.

Exciting fantasy for all ages

Creative world building while subtly weaving in faith-filled themes. I enjoyed the dragon's POV as well as Wes'. Tolkien vibes and a great narrator! From teens to adults, this one is for a wide audience of fantasy lovers. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
