Publisher's summary

The second book in Andrew Hastie's imaginative and original Infinity Engines series, Maelstrom is an action-packed dystopian, time travel adventure.

Caitlin has disappeared and someone has changed history. Lost in an alternate reality, Josh must discover who has disrupted the timeline and try to fix the continuum.

But there's a problem. The Order has become divided over an old manuscript which describes the Maelstrom—a chaotic realm filled with ancient gods that exists outside of the timestream. One faction believes that Josh will be the key to unlocking its power, the other that he needs to die to save them from oblivion.

Josh must find Caitlin and a way into the maelstrom, discover the author of the book and rewrite the prophecy.

Time travel

Great story, great characters, and fantastic details about time travel. I really enjoyed the first two books will get the all.

Great 'read'!

Such deep lore in this series. And the reader is so good at individualizing each character's voice.

Great performance, increasingly strange story

Very different than the first book, way more mystical/fantasy than sci fi. Still interesting enough to keep me in the series.

Another banger!

Not only are we treated to further character and world development, the story becomes more complicated. Two books down and the story is just beginning. The narration once again, is top shelf. Bring on the next book!

a muddled story

first off its not a bad story , i just felt it was too much going on or a bit difficult to follow that could just be me though. the story went from science to adding a bunch of supernatural elements that i feel just throws it off a bit

the narration was delivered with incredible class and skill as Rupert Dugas just nailed it.
ill give the next entry a try.
