Noah Barnes

A trip to the grocery store changed my life. That's where I bumped into my "straight" coworker and good friend, Jake Perez. I decided to invite him to my book club night, not realizing the chain of events that invite would kick off. Immediately our chemistry became too explosive, making our friendship and work relationship complicated. That same night, a bloody package addressed to me lands on my doorstep.

Falling for Jake was never in the plans—then again neither was being targeted by a dangerous stalker. This was going to be interesting.

Jake Perez

We were supposed to stay just friends—but how was that going to happen when all I wanted to do was kiss the guy? Joining his book club sounded like a perfect way to spend more time with him. I wasn't counting on liking him more with every passing second. Then came the targeted threats, throwing a wrench in our budding "friendship."

One thing was certain. Well, maybe two. I was going to help Noah figure out who was behind making his life a living hell and I was going to do it while staying as just friends. Friends who liked to hold hands and kiss and . . . Yeah. This was going to be harder than I thought.

Contains mature themes.

Not great writing but the sex scenes are good

This isn’t the best romance book- it doesn’t really make sense why the 2 leads are resisting a relationship for so long and the writing leaves a lot to be desired.

Wow

The story was really good, couldn’t listen to while working for obvious reasons but absolutely loved this; can’t wait for the rest to hit Audible

Sweet and entertaining

A good book to have a good time. Lovable characters, sweet love story and an easy-to-follow mistery plot. Very entertaining!!

An amazing mix of a modern love story and mystery!

No Spoilers!
The author brought all of the characters to life. The love interests were heartfelt and relatable. The mystery aspect had good twists and turns. My only complaint is one of personal taste. The story is told through two points of view, with two separate narrators. The narrators did wonderfully! It just isn't my preferred style of storytelling.

The “mystery” elements are secondary.

Overall a fun book. The characters could be more developed, but aren’t bad for the genre. The mystery isn’t really a mystery at all. The narrators do a serviceable job.

Nice suspense. But the wording… 🙄

To follow in the reading club rules: take a shot for every time you ran into the work cock. Hint, one person says it more than the other (interesting writing style), Next take a shot for every time the word “f**k” was used frivolously… I’d be out on the floor.

I skipped the last two chapters, I had enough. They knew who it was before the person shows up in the end.

Also I was immediately pulled out of the fantasy when I realized these two are younger then me owning Teslas and one of them purchasing an Audi as if it were a weekend chore. Idk… I’d like it if they struggled with anything other than their love life’s and the stalker.

It’s ok

Love and Monsters is a cute romantic suspense story. It wasn’t a bad read but it also lacked depth. It reminds me of the time my HS English teacher thought it would be a great idea to have us write our own book for a grade. I wish the author could’ve revealed the serial killer but I have my theories

Too Simple

Story lacked depth and didn't have anything to really keep it interesting. It's a fine story, but without interesting characters or a surprising plot line, it ends up feeling like background noise.

Fantasy? I think not

This was recommended on quite a few lists as a gay fantasy series so I was excited to read it. Alas, not one fantastical element.
