Publisher's Summary

A hunky Scottish laird. A time-traveling teacher. A tragic history only she can prevent.

Schoolteacher Brielle "Bri" Montgomery wonders where all the good men have gone. They certainly don't waltz through her meticulous life in Texas. Venturing out of her comfort zone, she joins her archaeologist mother on a dig in Scotland…and finds herself transported 400 years into the past. Shocked and bewildered, Bri learns she's just moments away from marrying an impossibly sexy Scotsman....

Eoin Conall has no interest in wedding the woman who irritates him to no end. But with the promise to his dying father fresh in his mind, he ties the knot with his insufferable bride. To his surprise, something has changed about her. Something irresistible. Could he be falling for the wife he never wanted?

With the chiseled man of her dreams standing before her, Bri wishes she wasn't well aware of history's impending slaughter of Eoin and the entire Conall Clan. Unable to accept his gruesome fate, she sets out to rewrite history.

Will Bri and Eoin succeed in protecting their impossible romance or is their heartbreaking fate already sealed?

pretty good

This was recommended to me by audible. If you are expecting anything close to outlander you will be sorely disappointed. The only similarity is time travel to Scotland. Outlander is a class of its own. It is substantial and meticulously detailed where this is mostly fluff. But I still enjoyed listening to it overall.

Audiobook Review:
The audiobook was wonderful! The voice actress for the used a variety of voices and accents making the entire listen more enjoyable and easy to understand who was speaking. Her Scottish accent was realistic and pleasant to listen to, while her male voices were a bit lackluster. A partnership of voice actor/actress would have better suited the story and the expository sections felt robotic compared to the life she gave the characters. The recording quality was great with no hum or distortion and made the entire focus on the story.

Recommendation:
A highland romance to keep you warm at night and dreaming of far off places. The action, intrigue, and pure heart will have any romance reader ready to buy the second book. As far as I know, this is not a historical romance novel and may not fill that want.

What a great story from all aspects! The writing was solid, the characters were detailed and well rounded and the setting (modern and past) were detailed and described enough to immerse you without bogging you down in details. The love story is realistic with the couple not instantly falling into bed with one another and just as one might expect, Bri attempts to shield her heart as long as she can in her unfamiliar surroundings.

Bri is a wonderfully spunky woman with a huge heart and the ability to fill a room with her laughter and determination. Once she lets herself go and accepts what her heart is telling her she opens up to her new world and fills the pages with her love for Eoin and his time. The magic is an after thought to the story and fits seamlessly into the intrigue and politics that make up the majority of the non-romance plot. The connections between the characters are real and heartfelt, the stable master to his horses, Eoin to his brother, and Bri to her mother, etc. All off this adds to the detailed and rich world created.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

What made the experience of listening to Love Beyond Time: A Scottish Time-Traveling Romance the most enjoyable?

This was my first romance that didn't involve vampires and I really didn't know what to expect. I was afraid it would be sappy and full of heaving bosoms. It wasn't any of that. It was a good solid story that was easy to follow and listen to.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Love Beyond Time: A Scottish Time-Traveling Romance?

There were a few for me but I wouldn't want to spoil the book for anyone. Listen and choose for yourself.

What about Lily Collingwood’s performance did you like?

I thought she did a good job. She was consistent with her character voices and accents so you had a clear idea of who was saying what.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did not have any extreme reactions to the book. I felt like I knew what was coming next. But I NOT in a predictable or boring way. Just that the book flowed so well it was easy to follow along.

Any additional comments?

I can’t say that I loved this book, but I really, really liked it and was entertained from start to finish. I would definately recommend it to someone looking for a new series and an easy listen. I reserve my 5 star ratings to the stories that I absolutely love and couldn’t live without, so that is the only reason it is a 4. But this story is a solid 4 and I don’t think anyone would regret the purchase. I know I will listen to it again.

A bit boring and predictable

Would you try another book from Bethany Claire and/or Lily Collingwood?

Not really I thought the writing was a little "oh hum" and not interesting

Has Love Beyond Time: A Scottish Time-Traveling Romance turned you off from other books in this genre?

No I have read the Outlander series hence I enjoy this genre however may be I read the best of the best first up and all others a poor cousin.

Did Lily Collingwood do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Average but I think it was the shallow development of the characters that let the audible down

What would have made this romance irresistible?

More drama, character development

Great Time Travel Romance!

Any additional comments?

This is a great time travel Scottish romance. This is the first book in the A Scottish Time-Traveling Romance: Mona's Legacy Series by Bethany Claire. Brielle (Bri) is a kindergarten teacher in Texas, her mother talks her into going to Scotland with her on a dig of an old castle. When Bri and her mother find an old spell room in the castle, Bri finds an old painting that looks just like her. When she starts reading the wording by the picture she finds her self transported back in time and married to the castle's laid. Bri needs to find a way back to her time period, but the longer she is with the laird she realizes that she is falling for him.

The narrator Lily Collingwood did a wonderful job with the different characters and with the voices, especially the Scottish accents. She was very easy to listen to and I am looking forward to listening to more books with this narrator.

This book, kept my interests all the way to the end. If you are looking for a great hot Scottish romance then you need to read this book! I am looking forward to the next book in this series!

A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

WONDERFUL!! ❤

What a fantastic job Bethany Claire did with this book! I couldn't stand all the twists and my heart had that suspense driven thump thing happening. Yes, this was very enjoyable! It fits perfectly into its genre and delivers everything we love about them and more. The mastery of two different centuries and two different countries accents is seamless.
Great characters, suspense and plot twist with romance, betrayal, and hunky highlanders!

NARRATOR: EXCELLENT... I thought at first that her narration would have too slow a delivery and almost changed the playback speed , yet within moments I was thankful that I hadn't as it was spot on in timing, cadence and and inflection. Her mastery of male and female voices is commendable. There is never any doubt as to who is speaking and the accents are are exceptional. I look forward to hearing more from her.

CREDITWORTHY? YES! YES! YESSSSSS!

HEAT FACTOR: A full rolling boil, HOT!

Not good.

If you love the Outlander series, you may be disappointed with this book; I sure was! The writing isn't in the same league as Gabaldon's.

terrible. bad performance. dumb story.

why would you write a book about Scotland and use fake Irish accents? if you are writing about the 17th century, why would you say a character grabbed a pen and ink? And why would you have a 17th century man use a 20th century cuss word? At least do a little research.

Overall fun and entertaining story

The recording download had an echo that became increasingly apparent in the playback of any reading speed greater than 1x ☹️ correlated with reading speed. I enjoyed being read to while listening and it’s nice being able to follow along, but the echo was hard to ignore 😤😩 The performance could have been better. Fun story, but it was not very believable the 1645 characters of the story took Bri's accounting of circumstances so readily... In the last chapters Bri really doesn't help them much towards solving the problem/ mystery of who might be planning to harm them! More sleuthing needed on the MC part to keep it more interesting! Why does she have to be a KINDERGARTEN teacher why not a history teacher or something that would have been more helpful of older kids, or historian or something other than a kindergarten teacher.. MC would have been better if as a deeper more well rounded character. She was like a fish out of water and difficult to see how people so culturally, and ideologically different and other might have a deeper more meaningful relationship. Nonetheless overall it was fun with a couple crazy/ ridiculous points in the story...

Amateurish. Not believable.

Amateurish. Couldn't get pulled into the story, which was a sort of time-switching comedy of errors that wasn’t funny and not helped by a narrator who sometimes momentarily mixed up the character voices and accents---particularly the time-switching Bri/Blair pair who should have been consistently ‘thinking’ as well as speaking in their respective accents. I tried to ride it out hoping it would get better but had to bail out halfway through.

Good

It is engaging it isn't of the standard of the Outlander books but the characters are good and it is amusing. Best of the faux Scottish time travel copies that are all systematically coming out of the wood work. Well narrated emotion wise. However, my advice would be, invest in someone who can actually do a Scottish accent let alone a highland accent. I had to get past the accent as best I could it made me burst out laughing at first but I got use to it.
