A lolcow is someone that is baited or tricked into responding to trolls thereby “milking” them for amusing reactions. The life of the lolcow is a story of tumultuous lies, deceit, manipulation, emotional breakdowns, crash outs, and financial ruin. The dramatic rise and fall story is familiar to us all. But unlike the fictional heroes of screen or Shakespeare, they are real life people that exist in the real world. We will explore this niche internet subculture. The origins of the lolcow, their traits, and their pattern of behavior. We will also examine the biography of six hand selected lolcows across different genres and internet eras. Each lolcow provides a tragic rise and fall story, but also an opportunity to learn. This book will explore the lessons in lolcows and how they can serve as examples for us.

if you are too employed for internet drama but are really interested in it, this is the book for you. I sorta already knew most of the stories in the book, but hearing them in detail is create. it's a very data driven look at what makes people fall into LOLCow status. Watch some of Luther's video on YouTube to get a feel for his style. His videos are a lot like the book. He tells what the oranges are for, and asks how was your weekend. WHOOAAAA BUDDY!

A fantastic starter into the world of Lolcows

Book was fantastic. I knew a couple of these and Luther hit it right on the head. The book is very professional and unbiased with the overview of the people it follows and the history is through without being overwhelming. I listened to the audiobook and it was great. If you want to get an overview of the Lolcow world without jumping completely into each of their lives this book does a great job on how and why they’re in the positions they’re in.

I very much enjoyed the analysis and breakdown of the common traits lolcows share

I liked the variety of individuals discussed, both well known lolcows and lesser known ones, would have enjoyed hearing the author's thoughts on Chris Chan, but that's probably worth its own book.

I was really blown away by the story of Nick Rieketa

Really enjoyed the biography of each of the lolcows, can't believe half the Rekieta stuff is real

A good warning to creators

Growing up with the internet, especially YouTube, it's interesting to see how it's morphed from the wild west to how it is now. Same goes for the creators that are examined here. I've vaguely knew of these people but hearing their stories puts in perspective how much it takes to be moderately successful in YouTube. Their downfall into lolcow status is a good warning to those who try to stay relevant on any social media platform.
