Dumped by his glamorous Russian girlfriend during dinner at Elaine's, and running low on cash, Stone Barrington is having a bad week. So his luck seems to be improving when he's hired to locate the missing son of a very wealthy man - lucky because the job pays well, and because the son is hiding in the tropical paradise of Key West. But when Stone and his sometime running buddy Dino Bacchetti arrive in the sunny Keys, it appears that someone has been lying in wait. When Stone very nearly loses his life after being blindsided at a local bar, he realizes that the young man he's been hired to track may have good reason for not wanting to be found. Suddenly Key West is looking less like Margaritaville and more like the mean streets of New York.©2009 Putnam Adult (P)2009 Penguin Mystery Suspense Thriller & Suspense

Is there anything you would change about this book?

It's Stone Barrington! I love the series just not the biggest fan of this particular adventure. Just thought it was a thin story line with repetitive chapters.

Has Loitering With Intent turned you off from other books in this genre?

oh NO not at all still a fan!

Which scene was your favorite?

Liked Key West and the beginning of the Adventure but it seemed rushed to wrap it up.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

probably not

Any additional comments?

I grew tired of the same conversations on the phone, it just seemed repetitive with not enough explanation for some scenes.

Less than stellar...THIS time. Always a fan though

Like the Stone Barrington character--a real page turner. The story had a lot of fast moving action, and the plot was not totally predictable. It is an entertaining audiobook.

Great Story

Stuart Woods scores again with "Loitering With Intent". Tony Roberts makes the characters come to life. Unless you have really bad equipment to listen to the audiobook you are going to love it.

A Good Read and A Fun Listen

Another great Stone Barrington story filled with intrigue. Florida Everglades and the Keys are the backdrop for this excellent story.

Once again Stone Barrington does not disappoint. While one can anticipate the ending, there is just enough drama to keep your interest.

Predictably Entertaining

I'm a BIG fan of Stuart Woods and Stone Barrington ... this one is OK. These are becoming a little predictable. Prefer the stories in New York.

Tony Roberts performance is sometimes a little odd -- don't care for Dino's "voice" (doesn't seem to match his description) or the pronunciation of this last name (previous narrator used a different pronunciation).

Typical Stone Barrington

Let me start with my one big gripe about this book: Will someone please tell Tony Roberts that conch is pronounced “conk” in South Florida? The constant mispronunciation using the "ch" sound grated on me, and the word was misused often throughout the book, maybe to lend local flavor? What an irony that the local flavor food is pronounced as a tourist from New York would, giving themselves away as “not from around here.”

Griping aside, I have generally considered the Barrington series as relentlessly average, but amusing, place fillers when I’m running low on really good stuff like Baldacci, Connelly, Silva and Child. However, this is above average plotting and twisting/turning and I think the most engaging of the 16 Barringtons I’ve heard so far.

Except for infernal pronunciation, Mr. Roberts is a very good narrator and this story is well told and interesting throughout. I was a little disappointed in the feckless police, but things gone awry are Barrington plot staples.

All in all a decent story of murder and greed. Worth a credit and a listen.

One Of The Better Barrington Capers

As a misplaced NYer living in L.A. I like the the narration, the story and the characters. A good time read!

What FUN!

Stuart Wood’s novels are generally entertaining. Sure, they can be a bit predictable, but every so often he comes up story line that’s very compelling. Loitering with Intent is not one of his more absorbing novels. The one-dimensional and misogynistic treatment of the female characters in the book is very disappointing.
