When Stone Barrington travels to Los Angeles for the biggest political convention of the year, he finds the scene quite shaken up: a dazzling newcomer—and close friend of Stone’s—has given the delegates an unexpected choice, crucial alliances are made and broken behind closed doors, and it seems that more than one seat may be up for grabs. And amid the ambitious schemers and hangers-on are a few people who may use the chaotic events as cover for more sinister plans. . . .
In this milieu of glad-handing and backroom deals, only the canniest player can come out on top . . . and it will take all of Stone’s discretion and powers of persuasion to arrange a desirable outcome.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I always wait with eager anticipation for the new Stone Barrington novel, it is like a gift every time I pressed play. This one was a box of socks and a neck tie. I don't know if Stone has grown too big and rich for me to relate to, or if it was the lack of tension, I just did not care what happened in this book. Stone used to be an exciting guy, this had all the action of a senate hearing on making blueberry waffles the official breakfast offering in the Capital Hill dining room. We went through all the motions, the characters that we love and hate were there, but it just fell flat. I can say that I hope this is the build up to something explosive - maybe it's just the first offering and the socks and tie will match the beautifully tailored suit in the next installment. Keep swinging Mr. Woods and I will keep reading! On a side note the performance was fantastic as always...Would you ever listen to anything by Stuart Woods again?
