In this nonstop thriller from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Stone Barrington series, the protégé will become the hero as Herbie Fisher gets caught in a web of deceit, corruption, and greed.

Under the tutelage of Stone Barrington, Herbie Fisher has transformed from a bumbling sad sack into the youngest partner at the white-shoe law firm Woodman & Weld, and a man whose company is in high demand both because of his professional acumen and his savoir faire. But even his newly won composure and finely honed skills can’t prepare him for the strange escapade he’s unwittingly pulled into, and which—unbeknownst to him—has put him at the center of a bull’s-eye. In the city that never sleeps there are always devious schemes afoot, and Herbie will have to be quick on his feet to stay one step ahead of his enemies...and they’re closing in.

Reseñas de la Crítica

Praise for Barely Legal

“Woods and Hall have crafted a fast-moving tale with a light touch....Crime fiction doesn’t get much more entertaining than this.”—Booklist (starred review)

“Herbie manages to stumble his way to the exciting, satisfying climax. The courtroom scenes are convincing, and a host of inept crooks will resonate with fans of Donald Westlake’s caper novels.”—Publishers Weekly

More Praise for Stuart Woods

“Stuart Woods is a no-nonsense, slam-bang storyteller.”—Chicago Tribune

“A world-class mystery writer...I try to put Woods’s books down and I can’t.”—Houston Chronicle

“Mr. Woods, like his characters, has an appealing way of making things nice and clear.”—The New York Times

“Woods certainly knows how to keep the pages turning.”—Booklist

“Since 1981, readers have not been able to get their fill of Stuart Woods’ New York Times bestselling novels of suspense.”—Orlando Sentinel

“Woods’s Stone Barrington is a guilty pleasure...he’s also an addiction that’s harder to kick than heroin.”—Contra Costa Times (California)

Sorry, I love Stuart Woods cast of characters and no one can bring Stone Barrington and crew to life better than Tony Roberts but Herbie as the main character, just didn't work for me. Woods and Hall did great with their previous collaboration with Teddy Fey but this one just didn't do it for me at all. Maybe if my mood is in a different place, I might get back to it, maybe not.
EDIT
It was ok, it still isn't his best.

Couldn't finish it. EDIT! FINISHED IT!

VERY good. More believable action than the previous ones with all the bombs, etc.

Finally Herbbie Fisher gets his own book. H
aving followed his character development through many of Stone Barringtons books, it was fun to hear a very well developed story with all the twists and turns ending in a very satisfying ending.

Very entertaining!

One of my favorite Stuart Woods books. Whereas the Stone Barrington character is a super human being with young women falling over him and an endless supply of money, Herbie Fisher is human, fallible, and funny. The scrapes Herbie gets himself into are logical as they strain credulity. In other words fun, escapism fiction. Give me more Herbie but keep Stone and Dino as his secondary characters.

Barely Legal Is a Lot of Fun

I enjoy Stuart Woods books because of 2 things. I like his style of writing and I enjoy the characters. His books are easy reading and not crazy confusing plots. His books are enjoyable reads. I don't really know what happened, but this book is convoluted, confusing, and unlike any other Stuart Woods book I have read. Perhaps it is the vision of the guy who co-wrote the book with him...Whatever it is I didn't like it. Stuart Woods fans should listen and see if they feel as I do.

Not up to Stuart Woods standards

it started out slow and dragging, but picked up in the end. I enjoyed the part where the main character doesn't get the girl. that was a nice twist.
