The seventh book of the bestselling Rivers of London series returns to the adventures of Peter Grant, detective and apprentice wizard, as he solves magical crimes in the city of London.

The Faceless Man, wanted for multiple counts of murder, fraud, and crimes against humanity, has been unmasked and is on the run. Peter Grant, Detective Constable and apprentice wizard, now plays a key role in an unprecedented joint operation to bring him to justice.

But even as the unwieldy might of the Metropolitan Police bears down on its foe, Peter uncovers clues that the Faceless Man, far from being finished, is executing the final stages of a long term plan. A plan that has its roots in London's two thousand bloody years of history, and could literally bring the city to its knees.

To save his beloved city Peter's going to need help from his former best friend and colleague--Lesley May--who brutally betrayed him and everything he thought she believed in. And, far worse, he might even have to come to terms with the malevolent supernatural killer and agent of chaos known as Mr Punch....

I held off listening for as long as possible, saving it up for just the right time. And it was worth the wait.

In addition to Mr Aaronovitch unspooling yet another excellent tale, he seems to up the ante a bit with each book, in the best way possible.

And Mr Holdbrook-Smith has become my favorite male narrator- he’s brilliant.

Can’t speak highly enough of either gent, so I’ll just say buy the book. Scratch that. Buy all the books. Personally, I’ve listened to the entire series at least three times, & will do so again. It’s that good. Cheers.

Yet again! Outstanding - great writing AND narration

I read some not so glowing reviews and worried that the series was falling off. But, I was happy to find the book held its own and provided a great new installment in the saga. All the regulars and a few new faces, lots of twists and turns and very satisfactory conclusion. Looking forward to the next book!

Another engaging installment

Was so glad to see book #7. I hope with the expansion of the Folly the author will keep the series going. I’m quite attached to the core characters and want to know more about Abigail’s foxes for starters.
And then there’s Leslie......

Thoroughly enjoyed as usual

Holdbrook-Smith can breath life into a deli sandwich menu. Aaronovitch can weave a tale like entertains, educates and enlightens. Together they're amazing.
