Publisher's Summary

From T. M. Logan comes a chilling audiobook thriller.

Six days ago, Joe Lynch was a happily married man, a devoted father, and a respected teacher living in a well-to-do London suburb. But that was before he spotted his wife’s car entering a hotel parking garage. Before he saw her in a heated argument with her best friend’s husband. Before Joe confronted the other man in an altercation where he left him for dead, bleeding and unconscious.

Now, Joe’s life is unraveling. His wife has lied to him. Her deception has put their entire family in jeopardy. The man she met at the hotel has vanished. And as the police investigate his disappearance, suspicion falls on Joe.

Unable to trust the woman he loves, Joe finds himself at the mercy of her revelations and deceits, unsure of who or what to believe. All he knows is that her actions have brought someone dangerous into their lives—someone obsessed with her and determined to tear Joe’s world apart.

I listened so you don’t have to!

I’m beginning to seriously question some of my fellow Audible listeners! HOW in the world could ANYONE give this book 5 stars?!?
This. Was. Awful.

The main character is such an idiot. In fact almost all the characters are dumb and annoying. I honestly was kinda hoping the main character was killed so perhaps the story had the remote chance of getting more interesting. Nope. No such luck.
The story is RIDICULOUSLY implausible which is an insult to anyone with half a brain.

The only plus was the narration. He did a fine job with what he had to deal with.

I try to finish every book I purchase, but man am I bummed I wasted 10 hours on this garbage.

Not worth it

I LOVE psychological thrillers. Can’t stop reading them. This one was awful. I HATED the main character. He was dumb as all hell and the plot wasn’t believable at all. The “twist” wasn’t even great. I wanted to stop listening but couldn’t because I was hoping it would get better.

Gone Girl fans....

You know all those mystery/psychological thrillers that say "for fans of Gone Girl"? Well, Audible fans, THIS one really is! You're going to believe one thing, then something else, and then be absolutely gob-smacked at the ending! Leighton Pugh is the perfect narrator. What a ride!

Sucked me in from the beginning. Cleaver writing.

This is T.M. Logans debut novel (hard to believe It’s his first novel it’s so good!) I really wanted to read this just from the description and cover of this book. I was beyond THRILLED to get an advanced readers copy ebook on NetGalley! I ALSO purchased the Audible version of this book, so when I couldn't listen, I could listen to it being read. The narrator was perfect!
The beginning sucked me right in. It started off with Joe Lynch driving his car with his young son in the backseat, and seeing his wife’s car a few cars ahead of him in busy traffic. He is surprised she’s not where she should be, at work and decides to secretly follow her. It takes off from there and kept my rapt attention the entire time of the book. The characters all had flaws, I like a lot of flaws… no one is without them in real life and it makes the characters more believable in a book. Some of the characters I couldn’t stand… lets leave it at that. Great build up of a story, great writing, and had me thinking I knew what was going on the whole time… or so I thought!
The ending was so un-expected! I totally didn’t see that twist ending coming! It took me several days to write this review because I wasn’t sure how to rate it because of the ending… was I mad? A little yes. Did I feel duped at the ending? Yes I did. But after thinking it over I thought it was quite cleaver and I’m sticking with that. Hence because I struggled with the ending, I knocked off a half a star.
Because I really liked this book I also purchased the Audible version, so when I couldn’t read I could continue to listen. The narrator did an awesome job.
I highly recommend this book or audio book (definitely one credit worthy) to anyone who loves a good mystery/thriller/psychological thriller.
A very special thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.

Just listen!

I almost didn't listen to this because the reviews were so mixed. I love these types of books because they keep my interested during my commute with the twists and turns in the plot. This doesn't disappoint, just when I thought I had it figured out, I didn't. It reminded me of Gone Girl in some ways.

A Good Listen

The story hooked me from the beginning and kept me guessing. I thought I had figured the plot out until almost the very end. THEN, BOOM I was totally taken aback by the twist at the end. I never saw it coming. A nice change from the tepid suspense novels I have been listening to lately.

Clever

Recommended by Lee Childs, I decided to take a chance on this story; You will not be disappointed. It is highly suspenseful and the message beneath its surface so true ...it's something we all need to take notice and beware.
