Great but those were the times...

Great timeless advice geared to young ambitious men but the guy is pretty racist and sexist which for the time makes a lot of sense but could offend someone

Very Wise advice

Very helpful info and entertaining. We should all have an elder giving this advice. More than worth the price.

Dated and derogatory towards minorities

Good advice can be parsed out of offensive comments. Common white European language of the time.

Satisfied

I loved the story and the way his fathers learned life values and viewpoints were revealed.

What a great father and a great book.

Moments of blunt humor.

Timely in a timeless way

Really good performance, the reader well suited to the topic. Good voice, will listen to Alan Taylor again with pleasure
The book is a gem, a reminder of the simple, fair, polite ways one should behave in order to succeed. And how important it is to be yourself, not somebody else's expectation of you.
A good read!

Yes! Very educational!

Would you consider the audio edition of Letters from a Self-Made Merchant to His Son Being the Letters Written by John Graham to be better than the print version?

A lot of thoughtful life lessons given in a humorous way. Knowing that this is written in 1890, a lot of life truths must have started with this book. Interesting to take part of more than 120 years old knowledge that still is so up to date. Everyone should read this for his/hers upbringing.

Who was your favorite character and why?

We hear the fathers voice reading his interesting and educational letters to his son.

What about Alan Taylor’s performance did you like?

The narrater has a nice, calm voice that makes you listen with interest.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I have listened to this book in one sitting, but I want to listen to it ones more. I know that listening to it ones more will help me to capture more of this wisdom.
