We can learn to use positive words and act out of our hearts rather than react with hurt or anger. When we stop focusing on problems solutions tend to appear. Happy mind, happy life. If we change how we respond to external stimuli, our mindset follows. Shetty grew up in a family where you could become one of three things—a doctor, a lawyer, or a failure. His family was convinced he had chosen option three: Instead of attending his college graduation ceremony, he headed to India to become a monk, to meditate every day for four to eight hours, and devote his life to helping others. After three years, one of his teachers told him that he would have more impact on the world if he left the monk’s path to share his experience and wisdom with others.

Publisher's summary
Daily lessons and meditations on how to detach from other people's expectations and discover a life of balance and freedom.
Do you ever feel like you give other people too much power over what you think and feel? Does how your mate or child or employer treat you make or break your day? Do you find yourself feeling immobilized by other people's expectations and demands? These are the classic indicators of codependence. And the only solution to codependence is detachment. This seeming paradox-embracing (bringing near you) detachment (separation) - holds the key to your inner peace and that of those around you.
Through 200 meditations, Karen Casey teaches you how to let go of the illusion that you can control anyone or anything beyond yourself. You'll learn how to find your own balance point and how to get to it whenever you find yourself tempted to become enmeshed in other people's problems or to rescue them.

Ok Book, Stiff and Boring Narration
The narrator was terrible. I didn't even finish it because the way it was read was boring and stiff. The book itself really has nothing ground breaking or new. I can't honestly say 100% because I just couldn't listen anymore.

There should be an advisory, too spiritual.
I'm not complaining about the book or the message, to each their own, but it would have been nice to have obtained a warning about the book's spiritual foundation. Most publications list a subcategory, this one should have been subcategorized under "religion & spirituality."

I
The practice of letting go is being in my life for a very long time. Counseling people when they come to you for advice could lead to attachment, wether you are a professional, a mother or as a teacher. I was tolled many a times that I had a cold heart, that I would never be able to feel love. Deep inside, I knew they were wrong, because I felt my heart bleed when I was the one that had to make the decision of letting good, and to say goodbye to a relationship, to my own children or to a dear student, simply because I knew that independence would lead us to freedom and freedom will give us awareness which in turn will get us closer to our inner most higher self.

I have auditory processing disorder and passively listening to this book has allowed me to learn more than meetings and other literature has. It’s straight forward, makes complete sense, is SIMPLE… very refreshing for me. I play it when my ptsd goes off too and I sit in silence and listen for helpful reminders.
