I’m sharing it all here. It’s not easy being a woman in comedy, especially when you’re a tall-*ss Black woman with a trumpet voice. I wish every young girl would listen to this book. You can’t miss a minute of it. I’m glad I chose the audible instead of reading it because she is so f* good!!!

Laughed, cried....a lot feeling her pain

Loved it, she narreted it as if she was just talking to a friend, not like she was reading words on a page. It's more enjoyable to hear the author tell their story, especially the way she did.

My favorite memoir ever!

I knew going into this book that I loved Leslie’s work. This memoir not only solidified that love, it made me want to see her in person and hug her. Not in a weird way. But in a way that we both were like “this is a good hug”. Leslie is an inspiration and a real one. Thank you for taking the time to share your life with the world Leslie.

Get the audiobook!!

As all of the other reviews are saying, this audiobook is absolutely exceptional. The written book is 288 pages, and the audiobook is 16 1/2 hours long. Listening to this audiobook my guess is that she is using the book as more of an outline as she riffs off of the written material. The way she narrates this book it makes you feel like it’s an intimate conversation between friends. It’s like she’s hanging out on your couch or the two of you are at dinner and she’s just re-counting these amazing life experiences.

Many of her experiences elicit raw and naked emotion and as she recounts these experiences, she becomes teary or openly breaks down and sobs and my eyes welled with tears with her. Other anecdotes brought cackles of laughter both from her and myself.

I really appreciated her thoughtful approach to narrating her book. I’ve always found her comedy to be brilliant and for her to personalize the narration and draw the listener in to making them feel like we are sharing stories over some drinks….well, it feels like she’s a new bestie. You want to celebrate her triumphs and hug her as she grieves.

I’m not sure the written book will do the entertainment value justice. If you can handle audiobooks, I highly suggest listening over reading this one. Also, trigger warning for SA as a toddler. No details are given, she focuses on how it affected her behavior and acting out.

The funniest book I’ve read all year!

She’s hilarious and also uplifting! This book gives great insight into Hollywood, as well as the challenges and tribulation of comedy.

Like listening to a friend

This was raw and real and unrehearsed. It was like sitting on the couch talking with my friend. No regrets buying and listening!!!!!!

Undeniable

This is the first time I have ever binge listened to an audiobook. I thought I knew and loved Leslie Jones because she just always makes me laugh. But now I LOVE Leslie Jones. I wish she was my sister or best friend. I would like to suggest that Leslie do a promotional campaign to get people to deal with hemorrhoids if they have them-normalize this condition and get people to seek medical care if they haven't. You're welcome 🤗😁

She’s undeniable!

Leslie Jones’s energy and laugh is contagious! I laughed out load so many time listening to her and definitely felt feelings come through in some of the tougher moments.

I laughed I cried I was INSPIRED!

real talk, this was an inspiring book. the way she handles hardship in a positive manner is what I'm striving to do in my own life. the way she talked about how she was a coach and how she handled/spoke with the kids made me reach out to get and all her to do a children's motivational book. i loved it.
