Publisher's Summary

It was one of the greatest breakthroughs in human history. An achievement that stunned the entire world. And it was only the beginning.

Facing the cold, clear glass, Alison Shaw stared nervously into the giant seawater tank. It was just one year ago that she and her team of marine biologists had stunned the world with their incredible breakthrough. And now, they were about to do it again. But an ocean away, something strange was unfolding.

Along a lonely coast in South America, an experimental Russian submarine, long thought to have been dismantled, has suddenly resurfaced. And the US Navy has taken notice, sending Officers John Clay and Steve Caesare to investigate.

The sub has been studying a group of unmarked soldiers. Disappearing into the jungle each night beneath the cover of darkness. Something has been discovered...something big. And it's about to fall into the wrong hands.

Unless Alison Shaw and her team can find something that no one else can.

Fine sequel, but the first book was better

I found the first book in the series stunning. so I bought all the rest of the series. This second one kind of dragged on for me. Can't really say why, as I liked the characters the author is developing the story around. There was action, but for some reason I found it a bit boring in comparison to the first book. I will read the 3rd in the series, and hope that it returns to the spectacular style of the first.

DKR

Theses are my favorite books to read. So I was so excited to fine them in a audible form. While listening to the book, GM’s descriptions brought the story to life. I could invasion each scene as if I were a part of it. I highly recommend this book series to all my reading friends.

Noteworthy story

Did not think the narrator did a good job. could have been better, his switching from masculin to feminine could be better.

Was not as good as the first

I really liked Breakthrough and thought that I would enjoy Leap just as much but I was wrong. It is pretty far out there and really hard to take seriously. The characters are great and Scott Brick is amazing, but the book was bland and silly.

Wonderful storytelling!

I have read all the Breakthrough books and am now working my way through the audio books. Scott Brick makes these wonderful stories come alive. The story and the message in these book are very powerful.

NOTE: This is Science Fiction!!!

My disappointment mainly rises from the fact that until the last couple hours of this book, I thought it was a techno-thriller not a science fiction story, Audible categorizes the book under Mysteries & Thriller > Military, which is misleading in my opinion and I had not listened to the first book in the series which apparently would have made that fact clear. The sudden twist for me was so jarring that it ruined the entire book, taking it from somewhat believable to far-out fiction.

Scott Brick was great as usual, even though in the end when things became a fantasy, his dramatics were a little over the top. Also, the ending seemed to be rushed by the author to wrap things up needlessly quickly. Overall the characters were a little too stereotypical Hollywood, but I enjoyed the story enough until the before mentioned shock to keep listening. After that point, it was only Brick and my need to not leave a book unfinished that got me the rest of the way. I don't know why the author chose to take this book to that realm since I personally think it would have been much better had it stayed firmly planted on earth.

Extraordinary

I have become hooked. This author is very engaging and makes me try to anticipate whether or not I have foreseen what he is trying to write. I am no where close. He has engaged my imagination to the impossible and at the end he throws you a curve ball. But if you where listening then you wonder if that curve ball will be discovered later.

Kinda slow start but really picked up

I thought this book would continue the connection with the aliens of the first book from its beginning but it did not. It seemed to bog down trying to perfect the verbal connection with the dolphins and then threw in the same process with a primate. So if you can hang on past the first quarter of the book it’s really worth it. Then it gets interesting and exciting with two subplots that mesh into one at the end.

Not bad, not great either

I have bought the second book to get more stories about the dolphins, bummer. The plot is predictable, sad, depressing even - I really don't need a book to tell me there are people willing to jeopardize entire planet for personal gain; just turn on tv or read media news - it's depressing. I wanted to be inspired and entertained, the book failed across the board on that. It's like on purpose any bit of humor is drained out from the story, it's all drama and grim mood all the way. This world sucks, really bad.

Another cracking adventure

I loved listening to this book, the twists and turns kept me gripped and I can't wait to start the next book in the series which I have already downloaded! As ever well read by Scott Brick.

great fun adventure

Reminiscent of the fun kind of boys own adventure stories you'd associate with an Indiana Jones plot. Very enjoyable though and looking forward to seeing where the story takes us next.

Forgot about the sci-fi

For over half the book I'd forgotten about the real sci-fi aspect that came up in the previous book. It was a shock but a good one when it came in. I tried to predict what roles Dirk and Sally would play and was wrong most of the time. That's a good thing. Really enjoyed how it kept me guessing.
