This book is amazing and has helped my family be better

I have seen some reviews where people just trash this book. They think they can just sum up the book in a couple of sentences. Really, this book goes in detail on how you can make yourself a better person. Obviously don’t blame other people for your problems but don’t take it to a degree where it’s unhealthy. There are problems caused by other people but this book teaches you not to treat them badly. It also teaches you how you can be a better leader. I say better leader with confidence because that’s what it’s done for me. I own my problems but I still blame others for some of the problems I have. This book helps me to do that less. I highly suggest this book. I think everyone should read it.

great principles and engaging method of delivery

This is a much better version than the other available, no change of narrator or random repetition of sections. Fantastic principles taught in an engaging way, I really enjoyed the way they taught with a story.

Great self help book

I’ve consumed lots of self help books before but this one is one I will reread in the future. I love the storytelling. Making the book as a parable made it easier for me to stay engaged specially since as an audiobook sometimes it’s hard for me to stay engage if the book references tables and graphs.

Eye opening!

My husband and I were asked to read this book by our parenting coach and goodness…I wish I had this years ago! This is beneficial to life, work, relationships, and very much parenting. Now to put it into practice!

How to get out of the box

This book showed up on the recommended reading list put together by senior leaders at work. A few of the guys in my group are reading through it and are discussing the ideas as they apply to our area. I’ll probably have to read through it a few more times for the concepts to sink in enough to help teach others. The book is set up like a leadership fable. The characters are fictional but are based on real-life examples. In the story, the main character learns all about how he is “in the box” (self-deceived into seeing people as objects or threats rather than as people). His new boss is the one teaching the lessons about the box. The company culture is built on teaching people about the box, how to get out of it, and how to thrive by seeing each other as people and working together toward real results. The book is broken up into three parts: I- Self-Deception and the Box, II- How We Get in the Box, and III- How We Get Out of the Box. The ideas are fairly complex, but they fit in with the Golden Rule- treat people how you want to be treated. What this book does, is help you see that to treat people well, you have to slow down and see them as people with wants and needs and goals and emotions. Only then can you connect with them.

This book is for leaders, spouses, and brave souls seeking to get better.

I’m not a big reader however this book came as a breath of fresh air because within the storyline I found myself asking similar questions and applying them in my world.
