Liked it so much I'm driving to NY to see him chat

JOCKO - if I had you as a mentor (writing, podcasts, the 'gram, etc.) growing up, I'd be a different person today as an adult. I've read (and re-read) every book you and Leif have put out, and those you drafted on your own. My six-year-old is about as big a Mikey fan as you could imagine. I have achieved a lot in my life, but a few years ago I got comfortable. I have served my country, but I stopped serving, and stopped hard, I did. I am now back on track, better than ever, and I take your words seriously and have implemented much into my daily routing including beating you to rise at 4:30 - a game I like to play.

"Leadership Strategy and Tactics" didn't disappoint. I read half last night when I got home from work (thanks for the prompt shipping, Amazon!) and finished the rest after buying the Audible this morning during my commute and first few hours in the office. About to listen again and take notes. Thank you, sincerely, for making me a better husband, father, worker, owner of a company and servant of others.

Awesome info

It was a great listen. But having listened to the podcast extreme ownership and dichotomy of extreme over ship multiple times, it was a lot of the same information. It drives it home and revamped a lot of the knowledge I missed or didn't remember in the other books

Great insights on how to be an effective leader

Lots of great advice, feels a little overwhelming when you realize the responsibilities you need to manage

Excellent on all accounts

This is a book I wish I would have read (listened to) a looooooong time ago. If you want to detach from yourself, identify your flaws and your strengths, and do something about them, this book is for you. It goes into how we can understand where others are coming from while still holding steadfast to our truths. This is a must-read(listen) for anyone who leads others in all facets of life. Also, Jocko narrating this is just icing on the leadership cake.

The mind set of joko is a true leader you know he has the tools and physical ability to impose his will but he uses his mind and words to get results he is looking for. While getting results he impowers someone else to rise above the fold. This book is easy to listen to and holds your attention it will help you in almost every aspect of your life.

Leadership reference

I loved it. As an E-5, i expect I will use this book many times to reference when stepping in to leadership positions.

The chapters are broken down on specific topics and can easily be referenced for refresher training.

What I really enjoyed were the hypothetical leadership scenarios, that really helped me digest portions of the book I have no experience in.

A manual to help you help your team

People expecting a book like the last two books will be either happy for a shift in gears or sad for the more analytical approach of this manual . It’s like the DEF Field Guide meets book . A must for anyone that went through the first two books and is looking for a more detailed direct approach . Some of it is sharpening the already established leadership skills some of it is reinforcement of skills with better detail and some is new and unique to this book . Get this if you work closely with a team where stress and danger make leadership paramount in team success and survival.
