Resumen del Editor
Get into the Navy SEAL mindset with this raw, brutally honest, in-your-face self-help guide that will teach you how to thrive on adversity.
During the brutal crucible of Navy SEAL training, instructors often tell students to "embrace the suck." This phrase conveys the one lesson that is vital for any SEAL hopeful to learn: Lean into the suffering and get comfortable being very uncomfortable.
In this powerful, no-nonsense guide, Navy SEAL combat veteran turned leadership expert Brent Gleeson teaches you how to transform every area of your life — the Navy SEAL way.
Can anyone develop this level of resilience? Gleeson breaks it down to a Challenge-Commitment-Control mindset. He reveals how resilient people view difficulties as a Challenge, where obstacles and failures are opportunities for growth. Next, they have a strong emotional Commitment to their goals and are not easily distracted or deterred. Finally, resilient people focus their energy on the things within their Control, rather than fixating on factors they can't impact.
Embrace the Suck provides an actionable roadmap that empowers you to expand your comfort zone to live a more fulfilling, purpose-driven life. Through candid storytelling, behavioral science research, and plenty of self-deprecating humor, Gleeson shows you how to use pain as a pathway, reassess your values, remove temptation, build discipline, suffer with purpose, fail successfully, transform your mind, and achieve more of the goals you set.
Reseñas de la Crítica
"Resilience is key to overcoming all obstacles in life, of which there are many! Embrace the Suck masterfully guides the reader through measurable ways to optimize their personal fortitude and become their best self."—Mark Owen, #1 NYT bestselling author of No Easy Day and No Hero
"The one constant that connects us all is that every single one of us is going to get knocked down in life. What defines us and our character is not just what we do next, but how we do it. Brent Gleeson recommends you embrace the suck and get after it. I agree. It's time to execute!"—Jack Carr, New York Times bestselling author of Savage Son
"This riveting step-by-step manual boils it down to the one founding principle we are taught in the SEAL Teams--you have to learn to "embrace the suck." I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to level up with a proven process to overcome the adversity we all face in life and business!"—Jason Redman, US Navy SEAL (Retired), NYT bestselling author of The Trident and Overcome

Brandon Webb has run life-threatening missions in the world's worst trouble spots, whether that meant jumping out of airplanes, taking down hostile ships on the open sea, or rolling prisoners in the dead of night in the mountains of Afghanistan. As a Navy SEAL, he learned how to manage the natural impulse to panic in the face of terrifying situations. As media CEO and national television commentator, he has learned how to apply those same skills in civilian life.

Historia
Mike Hayes has lived a lifetime of once-in-a-lifetime experiences. He has been held at gunpoint and threatened with execution. He’s jumped out of a building rigged to explode, helped amputate a teammate’s leg, and made countless split-second life-and-death decisions. He’s written countless emails to his family, telling them how much he loves them, just in case those were the last words of his they’d ever read. Outside of the SEALs, he’s run meetings in the White House Situation Room, negotiated international arms treaties, and developed high-impact corporate strategies.

great book.
loved it! Right in line with the, now, many books i have read by Navy Seals. A truly honorable, sirly and cantankerous bunch of admireable Mofos with great stories, lessons, perspectives and oddly enough humor to share.

Embrace the suck!
Learning from men like this really grounds you! Humbles you and makes you realize how little suck I have in my life! I’m going to fix that and get comfortable being uncomfortable!

Yes!!!
Being a sailor, I'm always down for reading books about the Navy and other sailors and SEALS. Brent's book did not disappoint! I'm going through a challenging time right now as we all do, and his story, his words spoke to me driving to work at Fort Meade in the mornings. I laughed, I cried, and yes, started implementing and attacking my goals with a ferocious roar. Thanks Brent for waking my ass up and getting me going again. Cheers!

Motivational
As a former United States Marine, this book has brought me new motivation. It has highlighted some of my biggest regrets over the years but also showed me how much the military has helped me grow my character. Everyone has so much potential but fears the failure to reach that potential. Brent Gleeson delivers this information very well and I highly recommend everyone to Embrace the Suck a little more every day. Stay Hard all.

A book o listen to on repeat.
Have a paper copy to highlight. Have an audio copy to listen to on repeat to inculcate the ideas into your mind and heart.
