Publisher's summary

Lewis was always the lazy kid in school. After a harrowing hospital visit, he wakes up as a dragon. It's awesome, but he doesn't know the first thing about using his new body! Why is everything so fragile? And since when have people been so tasty?

When he reveals himself to his friends, they don't know what to think. He's still Lewis, but he's also something a lot more dangerous. When he eats something he shouldn't have, the wrong people find out. Now, it's up to his friends to keep him out of trouble or risk losing him in the process. With dangers closing in on all sides, staying safe and in control is getting hard. But being a hungry dragon is even harder....

it's a feral fantasy dream

I already own the other two book and I have to say it's a great book, this book make me think of how a human kid can't grasp the concept of how human society works any more and at the same time trying to not let his instincts take over him, plus that's ghost dad. I like ghost dad lol, I recommend this book to alot of my friends.

Overall pretty good

There are a few points where the writing gets a little odd, a little 'cringe' i'd say, but overall the book and premise is great, and it does touch on a lot of aspects and scenes that I really enjoyed. There are a few other points where personalities seemed to flip-flop a bit too much, to where it became a bit unbelievable.

The narrator is great for the most part, but there were times where there was no stopping between sentences. I chalk it up to an editing error after the lines were recorded, but its mostly at the beginning and seems to get better as the book goes on.

A good modern fantasy book with dragon characters

This was great to listen to while I was at work. I love books with dragons as main characters, and while this wasn't the most amazing book with that scenario it was good enough to hold me over until the next wings of fire book.

The narrator did a great job and put a lot off effort into the voices. I wasn't a fan of Last Hope's voice at first but it warmed up to me.

Not a lot of books handle modern fantasy well but the lazy scales series does a good job focusing on the plot while explaining how magic and fantasy creatures exist. It doesn't spend too much time info dumping lore and mostly focuses on the characters and story which I liked a lot.

The characters are all mostly unique and fun to listen too. They each have their own motives and reasons for being antagonistic or supportive of the protagonist.

The plot was pretty simple, in the end I wish more happened, hopefully it picks up in the next book.

Get your lazy scales moving Lewis!

Lewis was just a regular kid untill he suddenly started seeing a ghost dragon??? Little did he know that it was just the beginning of all his troubles... Good performance by the narrator but the quality of the sound changes from time to time, from crisp and close at one moment, to dull and far away the next.

Definitely worth a listen for any fan of dragons.

Great story and the narrator is wonderful, the voices have a lot of energy and emotion. Only complaint is the tone feels like it switches from light and non-serious to heavy and serious and then back again quite quickly in several spots, leading to a sense of whiplash during those scenes.
