Publisher's summary

The new novel in Craig Johnson's beloved New York Times best-selling Longmire series.

Attempting to recover from his harrowing experiences in Mexico, in Land of Wolves Wyoming Sheriff Walt Longmire is neck deep in the investigation of what could or could not be the suicidal hanging of a shepherd. With unsettling connections to a Basque family with a reputation for removing the legs of Absaroka County sheriffs, matters become even more complicated with the appearance of an oversize wolf in the Big Horn Mountains to which Walt finds himself feeling more and more empathetic.

FANTASTIC ADDITION!

The pace of this book matches the earlier Walt Longmire books. Following his previous book which took Longmire to Mexico and a story told at a breakneck pace Walt is back home recovering from his injuries suffered in Mexico. His coworkers are treating him like a “Fabergé egg”.
When a shepherd hired by a working ranch is found hanging six feet off the ground with the flesh eaten from his legs Walt has two problems. Was this a suicide or homicide? And with a dead sheep close by, could a wolf have eaten the man’s flesh after filling itself on the ewe? With all the misconceptions about wolves (once they eat human flesh they get a taste for it ) the locals want it killed. At first Walt agrees but before long he has to rethink his stance. And when someone questioned his abilities at a town meeting- watch out because Walt lost it!
George Guidall does an outstanding job narrating. Please George never retire!!!!
This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

Excellent, as always

Land of Wolves is book 15 in the much loved and highly appreciated Walt Longmire series of mysteries by New York Times best-selling author Craig Johnson. I listened to all of them on Audible after I discovered the TV Series on Netflix and I can say that I love Walt, Henry Standing Bear and Vic like they were my treasured and trusted friends.

A dead sheep, a strange wolf and an apperent suicide, what could all of them have in common? You'll find out when you give a chance to Land of Wolves! Funny, witty and mysterious, the newest Longmire adventure is another great work from Mr. Jognson.

Craig Johnson is one of the most influential Mystery / Suspense writers of the moment and the Longmire series is very different, thrilling, original and refreshing. You can’t find anything else similar to it available these days. His writing is nothing short of amazing! He creates memorable characters, weaves mystery with interesting facts and wraps it all up in humor to deliver a fantastic narrative experience. For me, Mr. Johnson is one of the best writers out there…

Narrator of the Year 2015, George Guidall is back in Walt‘s shoes and as always, he brings all the characters to life with ease and passion, delivering a fantastic listening experience. I wasn’t able to stop listening, I kept the EarPods in for the entirety of the audiobook and when it was over I was left craving for more!

George Guidall is one of my favorites narrators and I love the way he delivers the Longmire series especially. He has a warm voice, like a good and wise grandfather, he reads, he acts and combined with Mr. Johnson‘s smart and funny writing he will make you laugh out loud.

If you ask me which version should you purchase, the Kindle, Print or Audible, I can answer without a doubt that you should definitely give a shot to the audiobook because of the excellent narration done by the amazing George Guidall.

A great addition to the series

I've been a fan of Craig Johnson and Walt Longmire for years now and I really loved this one. It left me feeling quite emotional and tearful. I've become emotionally invested in these characters over the years and this story made me feel like I accompanied an old friend on the next step in his journey. I've always loved the hints of the mystical in these stories and Craig Johnson really delivers in this one. Keep'em coming Craig!

Sad Hard story of favorite Lawman

First Narrator who I usually enjoy was very poor and it was difficult to understand his speech throughout this story. Not sure if bad sound booth or just the narrator. Next in this story Longmire was So worn down both mentally and Physically that it seems like the conclusion of the series. Henry Standing Bear is barely in the book and his personality and participation are truely missed. I hope if series continues that Narrator will put better quality in recording and the writer goes back to though older the Longmire we come to love. Sorry for poor review.

The band is getting back together

Thank you Mr Johnson for returning us to Wyoming and the company of Henry Standing Bear, Vic, Sancho and Lucian. The last book (the Depth of Winter) was just too dark for me. Walt's struggle in the aftermath of Mexico is believable, but the author still manages to inject the humor, personal insights and comradery that I have come to expect in his mysteries. Gotta say, it left me loving Walt more than ever.

I love George Guidall, but ...

I love George Guidall, but either he's beginning to slur his words or I'm getting too old to hear him clearly!

Mr. Johnson has written another fine story. I'm glad he's come back to the familiar territory of Walt having his friends around him: the last book was missing that and it suffered in the void.

My greatest complaint now is, as always, his stories are too short!

No enough Standing Bear

This book doesn’t have the usual relationship connection and almost no Standing Bear. It’s getting repetitive with Walt doing things that he is not physically up to.

As always -

Narrator was amazing. This story is a sad one - It is hard listening to Walt go through this time in his life. At least the book ended with hope of another story in the future.

Tired

That's how everyone associated with this latest version of Johnson's Longmire series comes across. That's how our beloved George Guidall read the story... rushed through it as though he couldn't wait for it to be over. Craig Johnson seemingly threw the story together, as though he's getting tired of putting the usual life and heart into his books about Walt. And Walt was tired, but then he was the only one who had a legitimate reason to be tired. His time in Mexico from the previous book would have worn anyone out, both physically and emotionally. All in all, I found this story, and all manner of its production to be very unsatisfying. This is such a shame, considering how eagerly we fans await the arrival of every new installment of the series.
