"It's like you were created solely to be my ruin, my sweet agony...but we both know you were meant for more than that, don't we?"

A god amongst his race, and a tyrant to others, Kaius Voroninov has only one desire in the world:

Mortality.

When whispers in the dark begin to speak of Kaius holding the cursebreaker prisoner in his Obsidian Palace, discontent festers within his once loyal subjects.

Dark forces control his fate, and his mortality is not the only thing Adelasia LeMasters unknowingly hides within her soul.

A thousand years of bloodlust has left him cruel and merciless, but Kaius must face the dreadful reality that vampirism has never been his true curse.

It’s always been her.

It will always be her.

I’ll be honest, I listened to the preview and was immediately hooked by Kaius narrator. He played to part immaculately! I did love the story, with all its goddesses and dark magic. The FMC did get on my nerves with all her back and forth whether it was her being sassy and then begging for Kaiya’s help or to save her to the please don’t turn me I want to remain human and making him promise her, the. She wants him to turn her . Like girl make up your mind! Other then that, I thoroughly loved this and will be buying the next audible book in Nov.

One of the best audibles I’ve listened to yet!

King of the Damned by Ariel N. Anderson kicks off the Echoes of Eternity series with a haunting mix of curses, immortality, and a romance that feels inevitable.

I listened through Blue Nose Audio, and the full cast duet narration by June deBorahae, Willa Jaymes, Sean Masters, and Joe Arden really stood out. Each performer added their own depth and emotion, which made the story engaging to follow.

This book has a strong dark atmosphere and plenty of tension between Kaius and Adelasia. While it landed as a 3-star read for me overall, I think fans of broody paranormal romance will enjoy the gothic mood and the promise of what’s to come in this series.

So, the idea of the story is great. But nothing was fleshed out. I felt like I had skipped a book about the backstory. The love between the two main characters felt rushed. I didn't connect with any characters on an emotional level at all. There seems to be so much lore to the world in this book that was totally disregarded and treated as an afterthought. I don't think I'll be listening to the second book. I feel I will be just as disappointed with the flow.

With that said, the narrators were great. Best part about the book, quite honestly.

It could have been so much more

I was excited to listen to this audio because I am a huge fan of Ariel’s book Under Your Scars. While this one did not top that one, the audio performance was five star for me. Can Sean Masters play vampires with accents more often?? He was fantastic as our MMC and June really brought the FMC to life. Joe Arden was a master at his parts as always and I believe this is my first time listening to Willa Jaymes and was very impressed as well. Overall, I would highly recommend this audiobook to everyone that I know would be interested in a story like this one. With that ending, I can’t wait to dive into book 2.

I need to know what happens next…
