great author

Thrillers are not my favorite type of books, but I love Barbara Winkes' writing so much, I felt I could trust her to make it intriguing. I was right! I love her imagination.

And the narration is really good, too. The narrator isn't really using distinctive voices, but she's crystal clear, and that is very important.

Killer Instinct

This is not your typical serial killer book. This is the first book by this author I've read, or listened to, and the first book I've listened to by the narrator. The writing in this book was well done. I didn't like the main character Joanna, and she just never grew on me. But, that is completely on me and nothing to do with the writer's writing. The narrator did a good job, but she had a lot of female characters to voice and there were times that those voices bled together making it hard for me to distinguish who was speaking. Otherwise, this was a good introduction to a new to me author and narrator! I'll look for more of their work!

Enjoyed this read

I enjoyed the escape into this story. I both enjoyed and missed some of the depth into the serial killers worls and suspense of characters in the throws of being with the serial killer. Even getting more depth from the side of the serial killer.

in general though. it was a wonderful experience to identify with the characters in a suspense novel. it was my first experience in doing so and now I thirst for more!

A captivating story about a cops journey

Barbara Winkes has crafted a compelling novel about the costs of fighting sexual predators. she has created complex, nuanced characters and tortured them with impossible scenarios. The writing is crisp. The book is a page turner. The topics tough. The scenes just graphic enough. She carefully covers the lives of her characters.

If you read tgis type of book, then this one is worth your effort.

The narration by TJ Richards is articlate and matches the story perfectly.

Twisted and infused with love

This is a great read. I was hooked at the onset when the cop becomes a convicted murderer. It just gets more intense and incredible from there. To say anymore would necessitate spoilers so I encourage you to grab this novel and enjoy.

The characters were easily to respect . The story was great, glad the ending was the way it was.

This is my second Barbara Winkes book and I am looking forward to listening to another! She is clever and has a fantastic way of leading the reader through her message. I really like the way she tells a story. I personally feel like TJ Richards has one of the best narrating voices out there. Every time I see that she is narrating a book I want, I know it will be worth the price for the audiobook. She's incredibly wonderful (and soothing) to listen to. While I think she did a great job with this story, there were times I felt she didn't know where the moment/story was headed as it was read-- that the mark was missed. I am looking forward to getting my hands on another Winkes book and hope to hear TJ Richards along with it!

Fantastic narration, and a captivating story! Definitely deserves your focus. It was hard to multi-task with this book, however it’s worth every minute!
