Editorial reviews
George Macdonald’s celebrated Scottish fairytale, originally published in 1864, has been capturing children’s imaginations for generations in its depiction of the literally buoyant titular princess’ discovery of the importance of love and human emotion after being cursed with "lightness" by the cold-hearted and resentful Princess Makemnoit. The Full Cast Audio team does an exquisite job in capturing the rhythm of Macdonald’s clever wordplay, and the Prince’s song, beautifully composed Todd Hobin and performed by Adam Wahlberg, is surely to tug on the listener’s heartstrings.

Story
This is the story of two girls, one is a princess and the other is a daughter of a shepherd; both are spoiled and self-serving. Their lives are changed forever when they encounter the Wise Woman, who undertakes to teach them virtue with an astounding balance of grace and truth. Firm and loving, the Wise Woman is everything a good parent could hope to be, and a refreshing portrayal of the Heavenly Parent in us all.

Story
A beautiful, tragic, and hopeful tale, this story centers around such themes as love, loss, and empathy. While floating through life may provide this heroine with a seemingly carefree existence, she has to find real love to teach her the importance of genuine emotion as well as the gifts of sacrifice and selflessness.

Story
The Light Princess is a short story that is warm and humorous, with a surprisingly poignant conclusion. A princess doomed by a witch to lose her "gravity" results in a silly heroine that has neither physical nor spiritual weight. George MacDonald's masterful teaching on the subject of sacrificial love is delivered eloquently in the events and characters of this engaging story.

Story
George MacDonald, described by W.H. Auden as "one of the most remarkable writers of the 19th century", was valued in his own time as an original thinker and spiritual guide. Of all his writing, it is the fairy tales that have retained their fascination, and this collection includes all 11 stories. The fairy tales feature the stock characters of traditional tales—fairies both good and bad, and children undertaking precarious journeys. Often adopting paradox and nonsense as Lewis Carroll did, the stories invite adults to deploy the same open-mindedness as children.

Story
A wonderful story of adventure through the different spheres of life by Scottish author George MacDonald. Listeners will fall in love with this "Christ-like" character, Gibbie, who is a mute, yet truly good in heart and in deed. A uniquely creative tale that will capture both the old and the young for ages to come.

Clever story perfectly dramatized
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
The voice actors contributed to the overall enjoyment of the story.
What did you like best about this story?
This has been my favorite book for years. The characters are fun, the moral is powerful but not heavy-handed. George MacDonald is a treasure that is still largely undiscovered.
Have you listened to any of Cynthia Bishop and the Full Cast Family ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
The best fairytale you've never heard

a bit dated
Although the story is a bit old fashioned and very similar in style to the Brothers Grimm, I would have adored it if I had had it read to me as a child. the performance was top notch.
