Story
The spirited child - often called "difficult" or "strong-willed" - can easily overwhelm parents, leaving them feeling frustrated and inadequate. Spirited kids are, in fact, simply "more" - by temperament, they are more intense, sensitive, perceptive, persistent, and uncomfortable with change than the average child. Through vivid examples and a refreshingly positive viewpoint, Mary Sheedy Kurcinka offers parents emotional support and proven strategies for handling their spirited child.

Story
One of the very best scientific predictors for how any child turns out - in terms of happiness, academic success, leadership skills, and meaningful relationships - is whether at least one adult in their life has consistently shown up for them. In an age of scheduling demands and digital distractions, showing up for your child might sound like a tall order. But as best-selling authors Daniel Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson reassuringly explain, it doesn’t take a lot of time, energy, or money. Instead, showing up means offering a quality of presence.

School discipline is broken. Too often, the kids who need our help the most are viewed as disrespectful, out of control, and beyond help, and are often the recipients of our most ineffective, most punitive interventions. These students - and their parents, teachers, and administrators - are frustrated and desperate for answers. Dr. Ross W. Greene, author of the acclaimed book The Explosive Child, offers educators and parents a different framework for understanding challenging behavior.

Great Book!
This is a great book & highly recommended. It really helps to put into perspective how children don't know what to do with the strong emotions they all have and helps you help your child. Once you understand your childs emotions & can help them to understand them, you will greatly reduce power struggles as well as general conflict. I recommend this book to all my friends.

Extremely Helpful
There is a lot of useful information in this book. It's easy to listen to, and I plan to listen to it over and over so I can better implement the information. This author also wrote the Raising Your Spirited Child book, and I'm constantly wondering how she's able to know so much about my child and my parenting style. Reading her books help me to not feel alone in this world of parenting. I highly recommend this book!
