Very helpful for building a relationship with your kids, which then turns into an easier time parenting. I just bought her next book and I'm so excited to see what new things I can learn.

perfect book at the perfect moment of need

listening to this on my commute to and from work was like a daily pep talk. I would actually be prepared when I got home for whatever chaos greeted me and handled myself well... now that I'm done with the book I'm passing the info on to my bf so we can be better parents together. my sister has started reading this now

Highly recommended.

This was a great book. It suggests a very caring and appealing parenting approach and the author's logic is hard to disagree with.

I have already strengthened the relationship I have with my son using this author's advice and that to me is a priceless reward for buying "Parenting Without Power Struggles". My only quibble is that while the advice in this book will probably work with less compliant, stronger-willed children like my daughter, it seemed to me that it would take a long time to have the effect I needed to happen ASAP.

I found "Setting Limits With Your Strong-Willed Child" worked quickly and effectively for my hard-case daughter, who was starting to drive me crazy. But, if I also follow the "Parenting Without Power Struggles" approach, I am sure that will deepen my relationship with her over the long-term. So, I'd recommend both books and both approaches, despite this author's distaste for time-outs and consequences.

What did you love best about Parenting Without Power Struggles?

Susan Stiffelmans voice is perfect to the reading of her book. She is calm, soothing and reassuring as you absorb her advice on Parenting without Power Struggles. Be the captian of your ship. Show your children that you can guide them through the rough and calm patches of day-to-day life, the ins and outs, and the operation of your home. Imagine how amazing it would feel to not get sucked into a back-and-forth verbal struggle with your kids about little things. And remember, you are the parent!

Good but...

I felt that the content was good but the thing that drove me a little crazy at the beginning was that the narrator was reading extremely slow. I had to turn the speed up to 1.5 to get it to the pace that I normally listen to books.
