With Esther, we end the linear narrative of the Hebrew Scriptures. And if we can draw one lesson from Genesis through Esther, it is this: “If we do what God says, all will go well; if we don’t, it won’t.” And then we turn the page to Job. Job does everything God wants, and his life is a disaster! As we know from our own experience: bad things often happen to good people, even when they are fully aligned with God. So what gives? Job explores this paradox, calling into question the fundamental lessons we learn in the first 700 pages of Scripture. Each book after Esther in the Christian canon of the Hebrew Scriptures is a recapitulation into the main narrative. Job takes us back to the start, to the time of Abraham, and it raises serious questions.

Reseñas editoriales

Dr. Bill Creasy of Logos Bible Study uses a literary, historical approach to examine and enliven the bible for modern listeners. Dr. Creasy draws on his studies, travels, and personal anecdotes to depict a vivid picture of the works of scripture. Somewhere between a sermon and a college lecture, he delivers these audiobooks with authority but a pleasantly friendly voice and a touch of fun, using contemporary references.

Dr. Creasy recounts that the overall lesson from the books of Genesis through Esther seems to be that good things happen to those who follow God’s law, which does not always hold true in reality. This is the driving question behind The Book of Job: Why do bad things happen to good people?

Dr Creasy explains a book that is otherwise difficult to understand. I really can understand Job and why all of this happened to him . A great narrative.

explains Job so well

It was a good audible book. But he doesn’t get in length with it as he does previous Bible Books. But the one thing I noticed is it was hard pressed to get any teacher delving into Job. The book offers a lot. One of the main themes people go through today why bad things happen to good people. Creasy answer the question better than most. But there was a lot to be discussed or taught in the rest Job covering 42 chapters. So I gave Dr Creasy a 5 because like always, in my opinion covers the book better than the authors I listened to previously.

Dr. Creasy does an excellent job of addressing exactly what the Bible says, and not going along with the prevalent, self-serving, "why do bad things happen to good people?" This is almost a dramatic reading, but also an insightful exegesis of Job.

Rebuttal to "bad things happening to good people"
