NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The iconic thriller series that inspired the upcoming streaming show on Prime Video, in development now!

Psychologist Alex Delaware and Detective Milo Sturgis, the most beloved duo in American crime fiction, return in this electric novel from the #1 New York Times bestselling “master of suspense” (Los Angeles Times).

This one looked like a slam dunk: a young woman found dead at her kitchen table, DNA on cigarette butts linking quickly to an ex-boyfriend with a criminal record. Or so homicide lieutenant Milo Sturgis thought. Then everything changed and a quick close turned into a mind-bending whodunit. That’s when Milo called in psychologist Alex Delaware, his best friend and a long-term consultant on “those cases.” The ones that are different.

Then there’s another one: an old woman found brutally murdered, her body stashed in a deep freeze and mutilated. And when Milo learns who she is, he’s stunned. This victim is someone he once knew. Complicating matters further, her home is an extreme hoarder’s den, virtually impassable due to years of stored trash and apparently meaningless objects. Except for the envelopes of cash stashed among the garbage. As Alex and Milo dig deeper into the seemingly unrelated crimes, they discover shocking links between the victims and realize they have a labyrinthine—and deadly—puzzle to solve.

Cast against the unforgettable L.A. ambience unique to the novels of Jonathan Kellerman, this is classic Delaware at its best.

Narrator kept saying then__ said and__said. I’m pretty sure all the so and so said’s are not in the book. Definitely decreased my enjoyment of the book.

Disappointing narration

Great story of multiple murders that appear unrelated. With twist and turns , wrong suspects drop away to a shocking reveal!

Alex and Milo never disappoint

The characters are interesting and their actions are understandable. I like them as people.

The situations are well developed and presented extremely well.

I don’t know when this book became interesting to me. I wish I have never bought it. It is boring. A relationship between Alex and Robin boring the friendship between Alex and my love. I love. I love the other detectives as well, but some things need to change such as the relationship with Robin and Holly. I’d like to see more of the friendship with my love and Alex and I’d like to see them other characters from the past baby I also would like to see Alex be vulnerable, working with patients. If I had to give stars. This book would only get three stars. The performance was good story was not that interesting but like I said wherever he is in psychology mode and I love his friendship my love to do something different with the relationship with Robin again. Please! Blanche is so cute.

50% boring

This is an excellent mystery, and a terrific example of Kellerman’s skill at focusing on the psychological aspects of a murder mystery. Good work!
