Publisher's summary

Amid the ghostly ruins of a derelict alien starship, a covert rescue spirals into chaos, thrusting a combat programmer, his illegal AI, and a squad of Marines into a deadly confrontation with an ancient evil reborn.

Technical Specialist Kerry Sevvers is the best the CDF's controversial Autonomous Weapons Division has to offer. He commands drone swarms with only his thoughts thanks to an experimental neural implant and a cluster of lethal AI.

But not even his skills can prepare him for this high-risk mission to rescue a deep cover Colonial Intelligence operative. When his AI are corrupted by alien code and the op runs afoul of a long-dormant threat, it falls to Sevvers, his unsanctioned AI, codenamed Six, and a fireteam of Marines to fight a desperate battle on multiple fronts.

Failure means the extinction of the Three Colonies and humanity itself. They must overcome rogue AI, hostile aliens, and their own divisions to defeat the resurgent evil beyond the colonial frontier.

Listeners who enjoyed the exploits of AI drones in Daniel Suarez's Kill Decision and the claustrophobic corridors of James S.A. Corey's Leviathan Wakes will be riveted by the combination of the two presented here. The constant dread as ancient evil stirs will make it impossible to put down.

Coders, Marines, and Intel operatives report for duty! Battle relentless aliens, corrupted machine minds, and humanity's dark past by downloading this heart-pounding military sci-fi thriller today!

Sci fi the way it should be

The first book in this series is an intense and exciting story, with vivid characters and a universe that has tremendous potential for future releases. It’s a great mix of suspense and action, with never a dull moment between them. The author clearly knows both military and technology, but doesn’t bog the book down by getting too wound up in the jargon of either. The focus is on the story and characters, and while there are plenty of “a group of the best in their respective fields go on a mission” type stories out there, between the very well-done AI characters and the enemies that seem to have a LOT of depth and complexity to their motives, this manages to have plenty of originality in a familiar setting.

This was my first time listening to this narrator, and while every new voice takes some getting used to, he won me over early and has me hoping that he’ll be back for the sequel, His delivery had emotion, but it was understated, never over the top, which matched the military feel very well. Buying part two isn’t even a question.

Exciting story, excellent narrator

Even having read the book, listening to the audio version of Intrusion Protocol was quite an experience. B. R. Keid's story took even this mostly-mystery-reader into a fast-paced, exciting, dangerous future world. And Kenneth Fuentes was the perfect narrator with a strong voice that brought the story to life and often gave me chills. Well done, gentlemen! Keid & Fuentes are an excellent team!

5 out of 5 stars. More like 10 out of 5 stars

If you're a fan of outrageously great storytelling, Intrusion Protocol will amaze you. I found it almost impossible to stop listening because the plot was so captivating and the narrator's voice made the story come alive. I ended up binging several episodes at once since I couldn't tear myself away from it. You'll be drawn into an exciting new world that blends the grandeur of Mass Effect with the intensity of Aliens. In some parts of the story, there is a strong horror element reminiscent of characters in BioShock (no spoilers here). It's an experience not to be missed.

Fantastic Original Story!

It felt like the story was a fantastic escape. it has just the right mix of military life, action, drama, and high stakes mysteries. I'm really looking forward to reading and listening to the next book in the series!

Starts slow but builds

It a slightly different take on AI. The story starts slow, but builds to something interesting. I’ll be looking for the next book in the series.
