Time is not a river. It is a vast cosmic sea. Where each life exists as rippling circles on its surface, past and future being eternally present. And occasionally, one expanding ring intertwines with that of another, weaving the lives of two people together . . .

In 2012, Emme Wilde can't find the right guy. She wants to feel that swept-off-your-feet dizziness of true love. But so far, her dating life has come up short. Star Trek geek? Nice but too serious. Hippy artist? Cute but too vulnerable. Instead, Emme obsesses over the portrait of an unknown man in an old locket. Granted, a seriously dreamy guy with delicious, wind-swept hair she just itches to run her fingers through. But still. Dead men may be great listeners, but they are not exactly boyfriend material. Emme travels to England, determined to uncover his history and conquer the strong connection she feels.

In 1812, James Knight has given up finding the right woman. All he wants is someone to share his love of adventure. Instead, his life has become a Shakespearean drama. His brother languishes in a tragic star-crossed romance. His beloved sister clings to life, slowly dying of consumption. But then he finds a beautiful mystery woman, dripping wet and half-dead, beneath a tree on his estate. Now if he can uncover her history, perhaps adventure—and romance—will find him at last.

I initially read this book because I enjoy time travel and it was included in my membership. It was really fun to listen to. I appreciated that I felt satisfied at the end of the book to either read the next book or no more. In the end, I continued onto the next book and discovered that although it’s best to read them in order, each are a slightly different in style of storytelling.

It is a fun book

I usually do not read or listen to time travel, but this 📚 was so exciting. It kept me wanting more. I listened in two sittings. Narrator was perfect.

The two main characters.

I love this book and am thrilled it is an audiobook as well. It’s everything I enjoy in a novel- wit, humor, and lovely romance.

Wonderful

It is so exciting that House of Oak is finally getting the full series treatment on Audible! I cannot wait to hear the other titles. Intertwine has been one of my favorite audiobook reads for years. After hearing that the entire series was being released, I hopped onto Audible and noticed that Intertwine was now almost an hour longer than than copy I already owned. It had to be purchased - and I'm so glad I bought it! Shiromi Arserio re-recorded this book, and it's even better than the original. The pacing is great, and the voice inflection/differentiation of voices is even better than before. I wholeheartedly recommend this to all Nichole Van readers. Join me in looking forward to the rest of the series!

SO. GOOD.

I have become a fast fan of Nichole Van’s work. When she’s on her A-game, she stands heads above a crowded literary room. I liked the premise of this story. A time travel romance that has a portal stone, but yet, it isn’t reminiscent of Outlander. There are several elements that caused this book to land squarely on the “Not Favorite” list. I did not care for the “alter Emmie”. Perhaps it would have gone over better if I read the book myself. The narrator wasn’t the right pick. I usually give new narrators time to warm up before deciding anything. Shiromi certainly has a pleasant voice and that’s as far as it goes. She voices everything in flat boring major. I do not detect her enthusiasm for the story, or the characters. Her male hero voice was so not happening. I got the feeling she was using her hands as puppets having a conversation. The exact same tone was used for Mr. Schmexy, jealous brother, convalescing sister and of course the amnesiac female lead. Emmie alter ego does get treated to a different personality, but it was snarky and acerbic. It did not fit well and it pulled me out of the story with every remark. Sigh. I was hoping to be over the moon, but instead, I feel like dishwater that has lost its bubbles and gone cold. So sorry.

A Tad Sad and Disappointed
