Publisher's Summary

In New York Times best-selling author Marissa Meyer's young adult contemporary romance, a girl is suddenly gifted with the ability to cast instant karma on those around her - both good and bad.

Chronic overachiever Prudence Daniels is always quick to cast judgment on the lazy, rude, and arrogant residents of her coastal town. Her dreams of karmic justice are fulfilled when, after a night out with her friends, she wakes up with the sudden ability to cast instant karma on those around her.

Pru giddily makes use of the power, punishing everyone from public vandals to mean gossips, but there is one person on whom her powers consistently backfire: Quint Erickson, her slacker of a lab partner. Quint is annoyingly cute and impressively noble, especially when it comes to his work with the rescue center for local sea animals.

When Pru resigns herself to working at the rescue center for extra credit, she begins to uncover truths about baby otters, environmental upheaval, and romantic crossed signals - not necessarily in that order. Her newfound karmic insights reveal how thin the line is between virtue and vanity, generosity and greed...love and hate...and fate.

Feel good novel!

I love Marissa Meyer and I love Rebecca Soler so I may be a bit biased. The book was so nice and light and refreshing to listen to while I watched the election results slowly trickle in. I almost wish I hadn't gone through it so quickly so that it would still be a pleasant distraction today (Friday, the 6th of November). Highly recommend to anyone who wants some light reading (or listening).

5 Star listen

Marissa hit it out of the park again, and Rebecca bringing the characters to life is like coming home.

Okay

I don't feel this is as emotionally complex as her previous novels. You can tell a lot of research was put into this. Storyline is page 1 predictable, and the ending felt rushed. The fact that Prudence gives up after being accused of theft feels very out of character. She fights the entire book, and just all of a sudden quits. Seems fishy.

Refreshing yet comfortably familiar

The marketing is true to the product. I’ve been getting into darker romances lately, and thought I couldn’t enjoy lighter YA anymore. But Marissa Meyer has done it again— this was a joy to read and I got through it quick. This book isn’t groundbreaking, but I wasn’t expecting it to be and that doesn’t detract from the experience. The characters had chemistry, the writing was solid, and I appreciated the diversity in the cast. We saw our protagonist have a solid arc, and the arc was interesting, definitely not a copy-paste trope. This book was refreshing and yet comfortably familiar, it’s worth your time.

An amazing read...I was hooked from page 1!

This was such a well written out story, a mystery, a romance, and saving animals?! I’m all in.

Cute YA Contemporary Romance

It took me a little while to get into this book because I found the main character pretty annoying at the beginning, but by the second half I was hooked and couldn't stop listening! I would love to see this made into a movie someday. It would make such a cute rom com!

WOW!!!!

I loved this story! It was such a great story about learning who you are and changing for the better! I learned a lot about sea animals and enjoyed the tug between "save the animals" and "help the community". Both sides of the coin are covered well and the carma of the universe was interestingly used to move the story along. I loved all the twists and turns. The twist near the end broke my heart and I could hardly listen to it again until I settled down and could face the outcome. I was so happy with the way it was resolved!

Cute story

I love Marissa Meyer, but this book wasn’t her best. It was boring at parts and the ending was super obvious. She’s still a great writer, but this one wasn’t her best story. Listen if you love Meyer, but don’t expect Heartless.

Such a really cute story!!

This story was really cute! I loved Prudence and Quint! All the characters in this story were so well written. I feel like I could write a little about them all! I loved the whole Karma theme and how it played throughout. Rebecca Soler is such a great narrator and did a great job bringing the characters to life!

Meh

I love Marissa Myers but this book was so bland and basic I could barely get through it
