Publisher's Summary

Alard:

This handsome, charming young man is presenting me with my own technology. It may be outdated, yes, but it's still what my R&D department is getting ready to release. How does he know?

I have to get closer to him, learn his secrets, and find some way to destroy him before he does the same to me. Yet when I look into his eyes, I get a feeling that I haven't had in so many years. Can I really ruin him for what might be coincidence?

Simon:

Everyone knows Alard Guth, head of Innocorp. He's one of the most creative, fascinating minds in the technology world, even if he is a corporate monster. Unlike all those other faceless creeps, I can't bring myself to dislike him. Sure, he's in it for the money, but, well, everyone has to make a living, right?

No, no. I have to remember that it's their humanity that lets them get their hooks in you. But when I see the look on his face when he gazes at me...well, would it really be so bad to let him reel me in?

This corporate romance is full of drama, daring, and deep, passionate love. Our fiery heroes are ready to show you what they're made of. This piece should only be listened to by those 18 years and older or those considered adults in the listener's country of origin.

Good listen

More with a forbidden love vibe than enemy to lover. The narration for me we inconsistent but not horrible. I found the writing and pace to be a little choppy but again not horrible overall it's a sweet if a little angsty story.

Enemies??

The narrator did a good job. I was able to hear a difference between characters.

This story is not your typical enemies to lovers. I was hard-pressed to see where the characters were ever enemies. The true animosity was between one of the main characters and the father of the other main character. I never really understood how they fell in love with each other but they did. I typically love JP Oliver’s style of writing but I thought this one fell a bit flat.

Enjoyable Read

This is another great read by Peter Styles and J.P. Oliver. 25-year-old Simon is a computer programmer working for a nonprofit and 46-year-old Alard is the CEO of Innocorp a large computer company in the silicon valley. The two couldn’t be more different and are a different point in their lives. Despite the obstacles and comprises the men need to make; the trust and love develop between the two. Both characters are likable, and I enjoyed watching their love story unfold. The narration was very well done.

solid 3.5 stars

Would I listen to it again: wouldn't be my first pick from this author team, but i wouldn't not listen to it again.
Did the story keep me engaged: reasonably
Was I invested in the characters: mostly
What did I like about the story? I like that the right person can help you become the best version of yourself.
Was there anything that didn't work for me? too much hot and cold from both MC's

Overall comment: Innovative Desires has an interesting story, good pace and likeable characters. The challenges Simon faced felt realistic for a young man, passionate and idealistic about wanting to make the world a better place.

Narrator comment: Adam Eckmair has done a good job on the narration, he bought life to the characters making for an enjoyable audio experience. That being said, I have become more familiar with narrators giving different voices (and sound) to each character, this isn't one of those types of narration. The personalities of each of the characters are what gave the different voice more so than the individual sound and I found if i wasn't concentrating on the story I lost track of which character was speaking.

rags to riches

I liked seeing Alard come to life little by little, as he fell for Simon. They both gleaned some positive behaviors from each other. It was a mutual blending, that helped each other to grow. I was happy Alard decided to make nice with Simon's dad- that showed integrity!! I enjoyed watching the dynamics of Alard and Simon's relationship develop . The narrator's voice and expressions were on point and added to my enjoyment. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this story and am giving an honest review.
