Couldn't Finish.😖

I wanted so much to like this story, because it did have potential. But unfortunately I couldn't get passed the 3rd character. The narration is HORRIBLE. The narrator didnt change the characters voices. Every voice he did for the different characters sounded exactly the same. plus, he sounded vapid, I'm sorry to say. After the 3rd chapter, I could not take it anymore so I stopped listening.😔

Good Story. Needs better Narrator

At first this book dragged for me. Then when the two father's learned their boys were fighting it became interesting since the Dads were dating.

This story ended up being good with every person learning new coping skills. The ending was so sweet and that's all I'm going to say!

Good story, terrible narrator

Never ever, ever never will I listen to this narrator again. I could not differentiate between the characters. Although the story-was gripping and interesting the narrator had me climbing the walls.

Disappointed

I was excited about the story after I read the review. I DID NOT FINISH IT. I tried, but Arthur’s character disgusted me. He was so weak, and definitely an enabler, and how he could be gay, but not be upset at his kid for slinging around gay insults is beyond me. The kid was awful q disrespectful and had no discipline at all. What Arthur provided was not love. I quit around Ch 10. Maybe some backstory..10 chapters is just too long to not be still character building.

Extremes all around

Ok so it wasn't bad just very extreme behavior for all the characters, trying to be perfect kid for uptight dad, super laid back dad with extremely angry kid. Super sweet happy ending all around. Narration was ok and it was a nice quick listen.

Interesting and sexy enough to keep me reading

This book was alright. There were several aspects that I really enjoyed. Unfortunately, I didn’t care much for the narrator–I didn’t like the way he talked, and he had only one voice for all the characters, quite confusing with so much dialogues.

The way Arthur and Jonas meet was cute. But I thought that their relationship developped way too fast. And the ending was really corny. It’s still refreshing to read about a gay relationship that doesn’t end in pain and death.

The way they both interact with their boy was fascinating. There were good parenting advices in there–and a few warning too. I loved that Jonas said that his way of parenting wasn’t perfect, it only worked with his son; that maybe it wouldn’t work with another kid. I suffered for Leo, Arthur’s troubled child, and the way he handled his pain and fears was so realistic.

Not a fantastic read, but interesting enough–and sexy enough–to keep me reading (or listening, in my case).

Single Dad's need love too!

This is my first book narrated by Danny Cespedes. He did a wonderful job and I had no problem figuring out which character was talking.

I really enjoyed this book. The dynamic between the two fathers and their sons is so different. I liked how the author portrayed different types of parenting without being too judgmental. The relationship between the two main characters goes through some turbulent times but they come out on the other side with a deeper connection.

loved it!

I think this is the best single dad romance I've ever read/listened to. I can see how some of the troubles these guys go through can be true for anyone that has an adopted, teenager, with troubles and trying to blend two families. Written wonderfully and narrated amazinglya

enjoyed it !

Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Were there any parts I found annoying: not with the story, but I was so involved with the characters that I wanted to both shake and hug Leo for his disrespect and bullying.
Did I feel an emotional connection to the characters: yes
Would I listen to it again: yes

Was a little slow to start, but once it got going had a good pace with interesting and realistic characters, I really liked the way both dad's realised their way of parenting wasn't necessarily perfect, and that Eddie's heart is big enough to get past Leo's bullying to realise he needs help.

Danny Céspedes is a new narrator for me, I thought he did a good job on the narration, I was drawn into the story and held there. There was enough difference in his characters personalities for me to easily keep track of who was speaking.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed Single Dad's Club and would happily listen to it again.

Couldn’t put it down

This is another great read by J.P. Oliver, with well-developed characters. Jonas and Arthur are both single fathers of a teenage boy. When Jonas and Arthur start dating, they find out that Arthur’s son is bulling Jonas son at school. The boys both get into trouble for fighting. Arthur’s son (who is adopted) suffers from anxiety and pushes everyone away so that they cannot abandon him. This story is about growth thru trial and error. How to manage to merge their two families together. The narration was very well done.
