Publisher's Summary

When he graduates with his law degree, handsome and charismatic Langston Hudson is ready to hit the ground running as a lawyer with his family's firm, but a routine traffic stop during a night out with his friends quickly derails his plans and turns his world upside down.

Langston and his friends are arrested after officers find half a million dollars' worth of drugs in his car. When Jacqueline Hudson learns of her son's arrest, she immediately begins to build her case. She is one of the top lawyers in the country, with a reputation for being a shark in the courtrooms. She is confident that she will be able to get justice for her son - until she realizes that she will be going up against an old flame. She questions if this district attorney is allowing their personal history to interfere with the case at hand.

To complicate matters, Jacqueline discovers that her firm is being sued by a former secretary for sexual harassment and illegal termination. Her older son, Lamont, who is also a lawyer, has been using the law firm like a personal dating service for much too long, and his misbehavior might have finally caught up with him.

Desiree, Jacqueline's only daughter, is quite reserved compared to her siblings. She's the good girl who doesn't normally like to rock the boat, but in what could be considered the worst of all timing, she is falling for Perk. The problem is he's been an employee at the firm for so long that he's practically considered family.

Given the problems her brothers are facing, now is not the right time for Desiree to introduce more drama to the family, but she just can't seem to help herself. As if fighting for one son's freedom and fending off lawsuits against the other isn't enough pressure, Jacqueline is also in the middle of striking up a deal to run for governor. She knows how much is at stake if her family's drama spirals out of control, so she'll do everything within her power to keep it all together.

Rushed in the end and incomplete.

I completed the book in a day. However, I was disappointed with the ending. I felt like it was rushed and incomplete. What happened to the Prosecutor, Tony, Des relationship, the boys future and the status of the firm?

I expected a better ending.

It got a little long winded. I expected a better wrap up of loose ends. Like the Jerry popping up everywhere and being a stalker. Also, the mother sleeping with James Brown and nothing being said about that! I expected the outcome to be that the K-9 cop to be dirty and planting the drugs to get an arrest to make SIPD look good. I was saddened that it just ended with no explanation as to how they got to the evidence to prove their innocence. I just expected a better ending given the details throughout the book.

Great Story AWFUL ending

Overall the story was great. But there was some key points I feel was left out. ****SPOILER ALERT**** Like whatever happened to the police body cam? Or what exactly did the female lawyer (Cant remember her name) help Lamont find out? I don't believe either of those was ever addressed. The narration/Performance was great and kept you locked . Now as far as the ending.....boy that was a huge disappointment. Lets see it didn't explain what happened to Tony, Desiree's relationship's, James Brown after the boys were released, The future of the boys, If Lamont still left the firm, What direction did the firm go in etc.. Its really sad - for such a strong start the finish was horrible.

I really liked the book, but I thought the characters could have been developed more or differnetly. I wish thw assistant D.A. got his once again for being sneaky. and the ending was just cut short. but I will pass it on to friends who

excellent until the end

I loved the book a was a wonderful read into everyday life of people with power and a bitter heart. went it got to the end everything happen within the last half chapter. I hope it is a 2nd addition to close the young men's lives, to tell what happen to the sister and her girl friend. and how is the father doing. etc.
