Publisher's summary

Maggie inherited a gift from her time-crossing parents that allows her to live three separate lives in 1861, 1941, and 2001. Each night she goes to sleep in one time period and wakes up in another. Until, that is, she turns twenty-one, when she will have to forfeit two of those lives—and everyone she knows in them—forever.

In 1861, Maggie is the daughter of an influential senator at the outbreak of the Civil War, navigating a capital full of Southern spies and wounded soldiers. In 1941, she is a Navy nurse, grappling with her knowledge of the future when she's asked to join a hospital ship being sent to Pearl Harbor. And in 2001, she's a brilliant young medical student, fulfilling her dream of becoming a surgeon, yet unable to use her modern skills in her other paths.

While Maggie has sworn off romance until she makes her final choice, an intriguing man tugs at her heart in each era. The mysterious British gentleman. The prickly, demanding doctor. The charming young congressman. She's drawn to each man in different ways, only complicating the impossible decision she must make, which looms ever closer. With so much on the line, how can Maggie choose just one life to keep and the rest to lose?

Another great story!

This was so interesting! My expectation for the 9/11 piece was completely different and I was pleasantly surprised. When Pearl Harbor occurred, it literally brought me to tears (very well written!). Maggie’s character was so strong and had such great boundaries in each of her relationships. There was a really great lesson in there about not trying to be responsible for the happiness of others. And the ending…well, I’m just ready for the next book now! What a fun twist! The narrator is also one of my favorites. She is excellent.

Great story!

The author is a very talented writer, and a great storyteller. The time travel concept between generations is fascinating to listen to.

Captivating!

I loved the first book so much and couldn't wait to read this one. I wasn't sure about the triple time lines at first, but it ended up bringing an unexpected plot twist. I hope we see many more in this series. These books are thrilling for a time-travel fan. Without spoiling it, I will say I wish there would have been more closure in one of the three timelines. There was so much more detail/dialogue/relationship in the other two. That part felt like it was left unfinished. Maybe we can revisit that timeline in a future book? Overall, loved the book and love this author.

Fantastic!

It was so interesting how the three time periods mesh together. Maggie must choose which path to choose on her twenty/ first birthday.

I don’t give many stars

I absolutely loved this book. If you are considering reading it, just know it is a good historical fiction covering 3 major historical events, but there is romance in it and it does touch on Christian faith.
I think Gabrielle Meyer did a great job with this novel. And as always? Rachel Botchan was amazed.

Great story!

Love this story so much! So new and fresh and swoony. I loved all the history too. Very well written! I think I liked this one more than the first book, and I loved the first book, so that saying a lot.

My only complaint is the narration. The narrator is good, however, whoever produced this cut off the S sounds on many of the words. I’m guessing there were complaints that the narrator smacked in the last book of the series. She did, but the fact that by removing the smacking they also removed a lot of the S sounds at the end of her sentences, was more frustrating to me. This should not be a one-button-fixes-all situation. Please get a better producer!

Incredible and timeless

I loved Maggie’s story even more than her mother’s. Filled to the brim with history and comparisons that mark both changes and how America has remained steadfast, the plot is a commentary on the various types of love and their effects. Buy it and prepare to be swept across time!
