Bygie Hudson's isolated life as an artist was perfect...except for her husband. Her seclusion is shattered when the police arrive to tell her there has been an accident. The man she'd been married to for 15 years, and considered divorcing for 14, is dead...and they believe she may be behind it.

As she fights to clear her name, she learns her husband has been selling far more than cars through their successful dealership, and the corruption is linked to a prominent judge...with tentacles reaching straight into San Diego PD. The deadly fallout puts her life in jeopardy.

When a witness disappears, and the threat of a reporter on the hunt for headlines is removed, lead Detective Tom Hall is told to walk away from the case. But the widow is an enigma. Unwilling to let go, he risks what's left of his stalled career by following leads on his own time. He refuses to let Bygie walk away until he uncovers the truth.

Sometimes, you just can't see crazy...even when it's staring you in the face.

Kept me guessing all throughout the audiobook. I am ready to listen to the next book with continuation of the story. I was surprise at the ending.

A thriller

Jill is awesome. I love mystery and thriller books so I was already on board for the genre. I also did not have audible at the time. I’ve been hooked ever since. I have listened to the book too many times to count. I love that I can get into each character and envision beyond even what is painted in the words. I am transported to Cali and NC easily having spent time in both places and the words paint those places in such a way that I am taken to the places. I absolutely love audiobooks and spend countless hours listening due to my work and no matter how many times I listen I feel myself getting into each character. Worth the listen and a great representation of the genre. I never knew Jill as an author having known her from our land speed racing. I keep telling her I need more books to follow up! Emily does an excellent job bringing the story to life as well. Nothing is worse than a narrator that kills the story.

Excellent! Draws you in and keeps you for the journey.

Very interesting mystery/thriller with many twists and turns. All of the characters were very well developed~the good, the bad, and even Moose. The evolution of the relationship of Bigie and Tom was amazing~especially after she "got a backbone". Emily Berisford's narration is just wonderful. Highly recommend!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes. Unlike some mysteries I had no idea "who did it". Did I have some guesses? Yes but I was very happy with how the story progressed and the ending.

What about Emily Beresford’s performance did you like?

I've always enjoyed Ms. Beresford's narrations. She is a narrator who gets into the story and shows all the emotion needed for each character. Her voice is pleasant and she keeps me drawn in the entire time.

Any additional comments?

Image of Deceit is a great mystery. The characters are well developed and I found myself routing for Bygie and Hall. The mystery itself is solid and I would recommend this book to my friends who enjoy a good book. I can't wait to see what Ms. Shannon comes up with next.
