Story
Twelve humans are left stranded on a wintry alien planet. I'm one of them. Yay, me. In order to survive, we have to take on a symbiont that wants to rewire our bodies to live in this brutal place. I like to call it a cootie. And my cootie's a jerk, because it also thinks I'm the mate to the biggest, surliest alien of the group.

Story
As one of the few humans stranded on the ice planet, I should be happy that I have a new home. Human women are treasured here, and one alien in particular has made it clear that he wants me. It's hard to push away the sexy, flirtatious Aehako when all I want to do is grab him by his horns and insist he take me to his furs. But I've got a terrible secret - the aliens who abducted me are back, and thanks to the translator in my ear, they can find me. My presence here endangers everyone...but can I give up my new life and the man I want more than anything?

Story
The ice planet has given me a second lease on life, so I'm thrilled to be here. Sure, there's no cheeseburgers, but I'm healthy and ready to be a productive member of the small tribe. What I didn't anticipate was that there'd be a savage stranger waiting nearby, watching me. And when he takes me captive, the unthinkable happens . . . I resonate to him. Resonance means mating and children . . . but I don't know if this guy's ever been around anyone before. He's truly a barbarian in all ways, right down to clubbing me over the head and claiming me as his own.

It's hard being the most popular girl on the ice planet. The alien men are falling all over themselves to impress me in the hopes that I'll take them to my furs. But they don't know my secrets - none of them do. And they don't realize that behind my smile, I just wish they'd go away. I don't want any of them. I want someone else - someone with a gorgeous blue body, big horns, and the most intense gaze ever. He's the only one that knows the truth. Maybe with him, I can work through my fears of the past...but I'm pretty sure he wants more than just friendship.

Story
When I wake up on the ice planet, I'm scared of everything: This place is cold, silent, and the locals look more like blue devils than aliens. To make matters worse, one of the strangers decides I'm going to be his girlfriend and kidnaps me away from my sister. I'm completely and utterly alone. What's a girl to do? Well, this girl escapes. Just when I have no hope left, a new hero appears. Sure, he's blue, horned, and has a tail. He's also fierce, protective, makes me purr...and thinks I'm perfect. But is what we have real or just a mating instinct?

As a newcomer to the alien tribe, I've struggled to find my place. It might be because I'm a tad headstrong at times. And yes, I might have thrown a few things at people's heads. But I had a good reason to pitch a fit - my shy sister was stolen away right under my nose. Of course, now she's back and mated. Everyone's happy...except me. I need...affection. Attention. Okay, I'm lonely. Really lonely. Strangely enough, the only person that I think understands what I'm going through is the same blue-skinned brute that stole my sister. It's wrong to hook up with him, even as a mindless fling.

A lush, tropical island on an icy planet makes no sense. Then again, not much makes sense anymore after waking up and finding myself not in bed but on a strange world populated by aliens. Since that moment, I've learned that nothing is normal anymore and I've got to roll with the punches. I can handle this, though. I'm strong and capable. So...washed up on a tropical island? Got it handled. Stranded alone with a brutal but delicious alien man that can't speak English but has great...ahem...body language? Yup, handled.

For seasons, I have waited for her - my perfect mate. In a tribe full of happy couples, I am alone. But I am not content to remain this way. There are no eligible unmated females left, so I will do whatever it takes to bring females back to our tribe, even if it means doing something wrong. Even if it means I must purchase my mate on the intergalactic black market. I will do anything to possess her, to claim her as my own.

I might be the only unmated female in my tribe, but it doesn't mean I've given my heart. I'm waiting. I want resonance, and I won't settle for anything less. But when an alien ship lands and a handsome stranger steps out, I know he's the one. His name's Mardok, and he's fascinatingly different - and distractingly appealing. But Mardok can't stay on the ice planet, and he says he can take me with him.

Seasons ago, I resonated to the quietest of tribesmates, a male content to love me from afar while I was the center of attention. We could have been happy. Despite our differences, I loved him, and he loved me. But then a terrible thing happened...and my world was never the same again. Now, resonance is giving us a second chance, but...I'm afraid. I've ruined everything. I had a mate. Resonance. Happiness. But then T'chai's attacked by ravenous sky-claw and almost killed. To help him recover, I tell the healer to turn off our unfulfilled resonance. It's temporary...or so I think. Big mistake. Because now my khui acts like it's dead and it hates T'chai. But I still love him. How do we move forward when I can't bear his touch? Is there a way to get back our happiness together, or is it time to give up on what we once had? T'chai has other plans, though.

Resonance. It's a given on the ice planet, forced upon you by the parasitic symbiont called the "khui". With resonance, a guy and a girl are paired up because they'll make great babies. It's a survival mechanism necessary for this sparsely populated world we're stranded on. Everyone expects resonance to happen when 20 newcomers are dropped onto the frosty world. I doubt anyone expects the gorgeous golden god named Ashtar to resonate to someone like me, though. But resonance seems to think we'd be great together. And Ashtar does, too.

You'd think a tall woman would fit in on a planet of seven-foot-tall aliens, but even on the ice planet, I'm still a weirdo and an oddity. I'm everything all the other cute, dainty human women aren't. One guy in particular - the alien Harrec - is determined to embarrass me by pretending he's interested. He's a jokester that flirts like mad and hits on me constantly just to make me feel foolish. He gets under my skin. He makes me so frustrated I want to scream.

Rogue slavers have landed on the ice planet and captured the tribe. The only ones not snatched? Me, a walking human motormouth with no skill except that of incoherent babbling, and Warrek, who's as silent as he is attractive. Two more unlikely people have never been paired together. Saving the others is either going to bring us closer together - or drive us completely apart. I'm pretty sure the feelings I'm having for my alien companion are as unrequited as they are inappropriate, but since we aren't going to make it out alive, what harm is one teeny, tiny kiss?

It should have been a one-night stand. I never intended to seduce Taushen, but things happened. I don't dwell on the past and while it was great, I'm not looking for a relationship. Of course, try telling that to Taushen. The big blue alien's in love after one night, and it's making things darn awkward. We've got bigger problems than whether or not I'm his woman, like the "cargo" of the spaceship that landed here. But Taushen's not giving up. He thinks I'm his mate.

You get a blue alien and you get a blue alien!!
I never know if I am going to like stories like this until I actually give them a try, I can read the blurbs till the cows come home but I never know until I start listening.
I loved this book, I loved the world how it got set up where I think it’s going I can’t wait to dive in truly enjoyed all the characters and then the conflict they face, how they overcome or deal. It was fascinating and I can’t wait to listen to more.
I loved getting a glimpse into Georgie’s mind and how she thinks things through it was so interesting and enjoyable to see things from her point of view. I really can’t wait for more.
Also the narration fantastic!!! Hands down Hollie and Mason brought this book to life. I can’t get enough. I just wish more books were in the RP!

Finally on Audible!
Those of us who know and love the Ice Planet Barbarian series have been given an early Holiday treat! Having read all the other books, I truly hope I won’t have to wait too long to hear the rest them on Audible. The storyline is intelligent and well thought out, and the witty repartee even more enjoyable when heard. In this episode, we are introduced to the frozen world dubbed “Not-Hoth” by the Earth women who were first abducted, then marooned there. It’s not long before our heroine Georgie makes contact with Vektal, who she recruits to help her rescue her comrades. As the story moves along, the budding romance between the two develops quickly despite (or maybe because of) finding themselves in one sticky situation after another on their mission. Between smoking hot scenes, more and more is revealed about the planet, its inhabitants, their culture, and their origins. (I always wondered how some of those alien words were pronounced.) Other characters are skillfully introduced so that by the end of the story we are fully vested in following them in the books to follow. So hurry up already, Audible- we’re starving for more!

Amazing!!!
I have been waiting for this to become an audio book since first reading the kindle version, and it did not disappoint! This is the first book in one of my favorite series, so I had high expectations. The female narrator was not what I expected for Georgie's voice, but I love the book so I decided to give it a try. She grew on me quickly, and I felt like the narrators did a wonderful job. I am hoping the other books in the series get made into an audio book as well.

Crazy sauce
Although this is the first sci-fi romance I’ve read, I was comforted by the familiar themes Ms. Dixon used in her writing. It's really not much different from multicultural/interracial romance. I like the attempt to balance fate (khui) and choice. I say attempt because in the end, one won out over the other. I admire the effort to show Georgie and Vektal overcoming the language barrier. I also appreciate the author’s creativity and imagination. What I like best is experiencing this via audiobook. The performances are top notch and made the book come alive in a more superior way than reading the ebook would have been.
Note to interested future readers: mostly light but there is a sexual assault scene at the beginning that might be a trigger for some. Also, non-consensual sex.

Very entertaining!
This audiobook is the first in the much loved Ice Planet series by Ruby Dixon. I had previously read this book and it transferred nicely into audio format. The heroine is an Earth girl, kidnapped by alien slavers along with 11 other women. They are left on an ice planet when the slavers got into some difficulties, planning to come back for them later. The heroine goes out to see if there is any food, water or living creatures on the planet and gets into a hunters snare by accident. Along comes the huge, horned alien with a tail and he claims her as his when a symbiotic life form in his chest resonates for her. Georgie is trying to communicate that there are others that need help also, but he’s kind of got a one track mind at first. The story spins out enjoyably and the narration was well done. Good easy listen!

Survival of the fittest.
Overall, this novel is thoroughly enjoyable for its humour, fun characters, imagination and romance. But that happens AFTER the gruesome beginning and before the heroine meets the good aliens (of which the hero is one).
Several women, all healthy 22 year olds, are stolen from earth by a nasty set of aliens (not associated with the hero and his clan). These aliens control the women in various ways including with sexual violence (rape trigger); and once landed on the Ice Planet, not all women survive. This might be confronting for some readers. However, once the remaining women organise themselves and start on their Ice Planet adventures, the comedy, survival and romance are enjoyable.
Despite the sexy impression given by the cover, this story is a slow-burn and a lovely romance before the sex. And it’s well done with likeable characters, including the barbarians, and good world-building. Our heroine, Georgie, is the bada$$ brave one who scouts the area for the group. I really liked her ethics, no-nonsense outlook, the respect she demonstrated for her barbarian mate (hero), and the respect she demanded for herself. The hero in turn was loving, protective and accepting of difference. Great leaders, the pair of them.
Narrator Mason Lloyd was easy to enjoy from the beginning. However, narrator Hollie Jackson doesn’t sound 22 to me and it took me two thirds of the book to get used to her - by the end I loved her because the narration was so good. Now that I’ve listened to subsequent books in this series, I realise the voice used for Georgie is just one of many voices in Ms. Jackson’s repertoire. She sounds different for each novel's heroine. What a talent.
I recommend this book for a pleasant, light (with the exception of the brutal beginning), romantic and sexy listening experience.

So ridiculous, but weirdly I kept listening
This book was so confusing - I actually think the writer could be a pretty decent author, if only she had written a storyline that was worth listening too.
I just truly tried to take the book for what it was, a ridiculous story with shallow characters and flimsy world building, not meant to be anything else other than a quick read with lots of sex scenes. However like most books written along these lines, it got irritating pretty quickly.
The saving features were the narrators and the fact that the characters seemed like they were written to laugh at their own actions and not be taken seriously.

My Barbarian
I have read several dragon books by this author. I had see these Ice Planet books but was not sure about them. Glad i took the chance. I did enjoy them. Human women taken by aliens to sell etc. Due to issues the cargo ship they were on was left on the Ice Planet and the women did not know where they were and if they aliens were coming back.. But they are rescued by "natives of the planet." They have a hard time understanding each other until one of the caves the barbarians use is actually a ship. It has a computer that helps them to learn each others language. I look forward to more in this series, The narrators were great especially Mason LLoyd

Not dreadful
It's ok. Ruby Dixon seems to have a common theme in her stories and not much variation between stories. Girl is being impressed and then mets ice barbarian alien who is devoted to her and her pleasure. Then they live happy ever after. It's a nice easy book.

Ok
This was good as a filler read, but didn’t have much emotional connection and I didn’t feel the chemistry. I’ll probably get more from the series when I’m wanting a quick easy listen though.

Boy was this STEAMYYY!!!
The first book in this series is absolutely fantastic!
It’s got action, smut, steaminess, alien madness, kidnapping, dystopian world.
I’m sure I’ve missed out loads but you get the point😄.
I’m not really into alien fantasy books. However, I really enjoyed this as it focuses more on the romance while having alien bits too.
I literally got through this book so quickly as it is action packed and I just wanted to know what happens.
I would 100% recommend this book. It’s definitely explicit and x-rated.
I will be continuing with the series.

Brilliant
This book is brilliant, very, very steamy. The narration is excellent. I found myself bursting out laughing at the humour too. There were some touching and sad moment also.Ruby Dixon may follow a formula with the type of romantic hero and heroine but the whole romantic genre does anyway. A lovely bit of escapism with characters you can engage with. You will be drawn into the world. Georgie is my favorite heroine in Dixon's books so far.

Love Ice Planet Barbarians
Where does Ice Planet Barbarians rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I love this series and have been reading it for a long time... never miss a book and have been waiting for the audibles to come out and I was not disappointed the narrators did a fantastic job of bring Rudy Dixons Ice Planet to life,

AWESOME
I am relistening to a whole bunch of audiobooks that I got a few years ago that I really liled then amd thought I would leave a review this time. 'Ice Planet Barbarians' is a book with a kick ass female heroine and a blue, horned male who believes in mates. This book was amazing and I definitely recommend it but, again, if you don't like the blurb then don't get your hopes up. I thought this book was amazing though, and I LOVED it!!

I liked this book from the start. I was so glad when they made an audio of the book and hope they do for all the other volumes of the series.

Blue ice on the rocks...
I was really hoping the audio would come for this book and others in the series, and here it is! The narrators have done an excellent job. Listening has reminded me what a totally awesome, funny escape this book is into a fantasy world overrun with males and not too many females. Blue giants with horns, tails and other interesting attributes, who, when they "resonate" with their life mate, are the most dedicated, loving, passionate beings. It had me giggling like a teenager, so if you are looking for an escape, this will become addictive and there are plenty more in the series, which I hope will also become available on audio. Definitely worth a credit or whispersync if you have the book.

***OMG AMAZING BOOK***
Thanks Ruby for finally releasing IPB audio and please hurry up for the next book :)
I love IPB this book is about Georgie and Vektaal its insanely good and very funny. it's fast paced and toe curling hottt. Hollie Jackson and Mason Lloyd are excellent in their narratives, they brought this book to life and portrays each character magnificently.
