To bright and anxious eight-year-old Kay Washington, the worst thing in the world is being alone with the quiet. That’s why Eddie Video makes the perfect imaginary friend: He’s smart, he’s loud, he loves pulling pranks, and he’s always there to chase away the silence.

To mid-forties, down-on-his-luck Ivan, the worst thing in the world happened when he lost his imaginary friend. Now cursed with the ability to see everyone else’s, Ivan makes a living by killing the imaginary friends of adults who couldn’t let go. But when one of Eddie Video’s “pranks” goes too far, Ivan agrees to make an exception and help Kay.

Only Ivan will soon learn that Eddie Video is nothing like the talking ostriches, star bears, and goblin princesses he’s encountered in the past, and it’s going to take a lot more than clumsy haymakers and steak knives to bring him down. A balance of comedy and catharsis, this dual-narrative tackles both the fear of growing up and the scars our childhood leaves behind.

Hopefully this’ll at least get Robert a couple of honey buns, because as we all know, he’s going to prison for not promoting this book enough. His AI lawyer led him astray and now our beloved Robert Brockway is going up river to do hard time. Maybe they’ll let him keep doing BIGFEETS from prison.

What a fun read. This book hits the sweet spot of creepiness, nostalgia and humor.

Coming from Carrier Wave, this was a refreshing read. Still the same ol twisted Brock, but now we know more about his childhood after this read even feel like I know a little more about my own.

Highly recommend.

Creep AF but also light and easy to read

I assumed this would be funny, and of course it is. Brockway has been one of the funniest people on the internet for decades. what i was not expecting was a heartfelt dissection of loneliness and nuerodivergence. this book has way more depth and heart than it has any right to. buy it to help the author afford his hot plate in jail

Comedy and Heart

Once I started I couldn't put it down. It had me go through a roller coaster of emotions. The author did a great job engaging the reader with the stories. I definitely recommend this book to any horror fans out there.

Great mix of horror and dark comedy

This was completely different than what I usually read/listen to (Murder mystery, classics) so I wasnt sure what to expect. It kept me fully engaged the entire time. The performance was excellent and the story embraced a topic that has fascinated people forever. Imaginary friends: how much dependence is too much and when is it time to let go. It got much darker that I anticipated. This book also captures the parental point of view and the struggle of wanting your kid to be "normal". I was overall really impressed. The only thing I would nitpick is that the final resolution phase felt like I was listening to them fight for like eight days; it went on way too long.
