Publisher's Summary

Two friends on opposite sides of the aisle provide a practical guide to grace-filled political conversation while challenging listeners to put relationship before policy and understanding before argument.

More than ever, politics seems driven by conflict and anger. People sitting together in pews every Sunday have started to feel like strangers, loved ones at the dinner table like enemies. Sarah Stewart Holland and Beth Silvers say there is a better way.

As working moms on opposite ends of the political spectrum and hosts of a fast-growing politics podcast, Holland and Silvers have learned how to practice engaging conversation while disagreeing. In I Think You're Wrong (But I'm Listening), they share principles on how to give grace and be vulnerable when discussing issues that affect families, churches, the country, and the world. They provide practical tools to move past frustration and into productive dialogue, emphasizing that faith should inform the way people engage more than it does the outcome of that engagement.

This urgently needed new audiobook reveals how to talk about politics in a way that inspires rather than angers and that pays spiritual dividends far past election day.

Highly recommend!

Two recovering lawyers from different political positions have researched specific issues to put together a wonderful book. I highly recommend listening and sharing with others. We need to learn more about individual issues as well as how to talk about them respectfully!

One of the most powerful books on communication

I have been a huge fan of Beth and Sarah since discovering their podcast last year. This is a book that I have now purchased in every format possible for myself as well as countless physical copies for friends and lawmakers. It's that important.

This book gives amazing advice on how to have hard conversations. Not just political conversations, but ALL hard conversations, it's just framed as how to have hard political conversations. The narration is gentle, and it is obvious that both women have a great deal of experience in speaking on microphone. The content is coherent, and builds on each previous chapter while giving real world tools for implementation. Honestly I've re-read (listened) to this book a half dozen times already and I am sure to revisit it repeatedly over the rest of my life.

Thank you SO much Beth and Sarah for everything you have put out into the universe. The world is better for having you in the conversation.

All the love for all the nuance

I’ve been listening to Sarah and Beth for a couple of years now. They always inspire me, remind me to stop and think, and always said and wonderful example of how to have a good political conversation. I love the nuance they bring to a discussion of politics, and the space that they are creating for people who are looking for a way to understand each other. I think Sarah and Beth have given us the key to unlock good political exchanges. Now it’s up to us to turn the key in the lock. Thank you Sarah and Beth!

Should be a pamphlet

An important topic, but a bit too wordy for me. I’d recommend buying the book so you could skim through the chapters.

This book could make our political arena better

EVERY person - no matter your view on faith, life, politics should read this book. Filled with balanced and fair conversations on a variety of the "hot" topics in our country today. I truly enjoyed the book and found myself going back and listening to certain parts again. I don't listen to the podcast but will now.
