Publisher's summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

What happens on the pitch is only half the story.

Being a footballer is not just kicking a ball about with 21 other people on a big grass rectangle. Sometimes being a footballer is about accidentally becoming best mates with Mickey Rourke, or understanding why spitting is considered football's most heinous crime.

In How to be a Footballer, Peter Crouch took us into a world of bad tattoos and even worse haircuts, a world where you're on the pitch one minute, spending too much money on a personalised number plate the next. In I, Robot, he lifts the lid even further on the beautiful game. We will learn about Gareth Bale's magic beans, the Golden Rhombus of Saturday night entertainment and why Crouchy's dad walks his dog wearing an England tracksuit from 2005.

Whether you're an armchair expert or out in the stands every Saturday, crazy for five-a-side or haven't put on a pair of boots since school, this is the real inside story of how to be a footballer, brilliantly narrated by Crouchy himself.

Loved it

Crouchy has done another good job with this one. I like the way he’s structured the chapters and tells some good stories. Well read too.

Another great book

Just finished, enjoyed the book similar to his first book. Few bits over lapped odd story told in both. All in all would recommend

More of the same , except with some delusion..

Listened to the first book and enjoyed it , along with the podcasts.
Always enjoyed them , this however is just more of the same.
Except where he's entered into the diatribe of how hard a footballers life is and the tactical genius of Tony Pulis ;)
At this point its difficult to take seriously what he's saying , whilst he still maintains his charisma his delusion of how he can be so critical based on what he won during his career manages to take away any respect he may have had..
Stick with the first book , this is rubbish

The more I hear from Peter Crouch, the more I like him. Nicest guy in football.

He’s just awesome

Funny, touching, astonishing, wise and wonderfully reflective. Love the way he writes and the way he reads… especially when he giggles at his own self and words. Loved it

Why haven't you listened to this yet?

Crouch delivers again. just think of The Secret Footballer if he wasn't firmly inserted into his own back passage.

I'm not even the world's biggest soccerball fan but Crouch makes the world accessible and gives a humorous lowdown on what happens behind the scenes.

A must for any football fan.

Top banana

A fun, honest view of life in a bizarre industry, the world of professional football. Narrated well.

Crouchy is a legend!

10/10 for everything really. Couldn't get more out of a book than crouchy's autobiography. I like it particularly because he reads it himself
